In this small town, where you go in and out in minutes, the line was doubled at a time when it usually is not.

:sorry:

Whew! Glad that's over!

Oh and here is live online election results - for later or now if you want to see what the news is doing as we all prepare.

Our line was long, but we had a lot of slow moving people. It is great to say that I have voted. I didn't used to take my civic duty seriously.

Big turnout should favour Obama as Republicans are traditionally more consistant voters. A big turnout means proportionally more Dems are coming out to vote...

Perhaps. But not necessarily. Perhaps it is the Democrats who have been abandoned by Obama wanting to make sure he doesn't get a second term.

I only had one person in front of me in line in PA, for what it's worth. I live in a conservative area and a guy working at a store mentioned that everyone who came in with an "I voted" sticker said they had voted for Obama- good news. :)

They were asking for voter IDs at the polls even though the court said they couldn't require them for this election. I said no and they let me vote. I had my driver's license in my wallet, it was just the principle of the thing. For those who aren't aware, the Republican state government passed a law to require IDs, and a legislator who sponsored it was caught on tape saying he did it to deliver the state for Romney (Confirming Democratic charges that it was done to keep some elderly folks who no longer drive or the urban poor who don't have cars or choose to use mass transit and don't have licenses from voting, because they're statistically more likely to be Democrats). Someone sued and a court said they could ask for but not require IDs for now (I guess they are waiting for a definitive answer as it works it's way through the court system). Even just asking, and the early ads the state used tax dollars to fund advertising the need to present ID (before the court ruling I guess), may discourage folks from voting, though, unfortunately.
