There is no real choice in this election. Both candidates are so similar and middle of the road, concensus types.

Give me a seven way Party election in Ireland any day of the week. From looney Left to blood sucking Right. Where you see skin and hair flying in the TV debates. Great entertainment and genuine choice...:)

I am writing in Ron Paul as it is my right set aside by the Constitution of the Unites States of America. I am voting for him and not against any other candidates.

Oh about praying for a certain candidate to win being hubris--don't think so, not when even the Bishops are aware that if Obama get's re-elected, the Catholic Church will suffer. Obama is against religious freedom.

What about if Romney gets elected, Christianity will suffer since he is not a Christian and does not believe in God?

Nope. Romney believes in religious freedom, unlike the present occupant of the WH. All LDS consider themselves to be Christians and one of their books of scripture is the KJV. And actually the LDS are Christian according to the simplest definition--believe that Jesus is God's son, that He is our Lord and Savior; He saved us; that we are to follow His teachings.

Besides that Ryan is Catholic. Both Romney and Ryan are for life. Even Cardinal Dolan said that he has no objection to voting for Romney. Also there is no religious test for the presidency mentioned in the Constitution.

BTW Romney would never even dream of making fun of Christians and the Bible like Obama has.

Mormons also believe that God once lived on a planet and becoming a God and ruling over his own worlds which he creates is the goal of every devout Mormon male. (EDIT: I am wondering how some conspiracy theorists haven't pinned Anti-Christ on Romney for this one)

"The Lord created you and me for the purpose of becoming Gods like Himself" (JOD 3:93)

The Encyclopedia of Mormonism concurs with this thought when it states: “For Latter-day Saints, the term ‘godhood’ denotes the attainment of such a state—one of having all divine attributes and doing as God does and being as God is” (The Encyclopedia of Mormonism, 2:553).

“Latter-day Saints believe in this progression in eternity until, eventually, we become worthy through knowledge, wisdom, humility, and obedience, to be like God, and then to have the privilege of being made equal in power, might and dominion (D&C. 76:95).

Exaltation sounds great... To Mormons. :)

Also, what kind of making fun of has Obama done?

The Catholic Church teaches that the LDS (Mormons) are a non-Christian religion. Please stop arguing against Catholic teaching, it's against the rules of this protected area of CF to do that. :)

Good grief. I know exactly what Mormons believe. For 14 years, every six months, I've been having to greet 2 Mormon elders who were interested in sharing what they believe with us. Once there were three, and another time the Mormon sisters visited. (There's a LDS meeting house less than a mile from us.) I only remember once getting into an actual debate because normally they are very repectful and even offer to help in any way (and the offer is sincere too.)

Since we live in the "Mormon belt" (a play on the "Bible belt" of this country) my church has even invited LDS to come over and explain their beliefs to our CCD (Christian Confraternity of Doctrine) students. Our church includes the LDS as "Christians" on a banner listing the various Christian religions. The term they use is "psuedo-Christians", but the LDS nowadays call themselves Christian. And according to the simplest definition of "follower of Jesus Christ, who is God's son and is our Lord and Redeemer" they qualify because they believe all that and one of their books of scripture is the KJV of the Bible. (In fact the Book of Mormon is very much like the KJV in its language.)

And if you ever read the LDS Articles of Faith, I bet you would really be surprised because it sounds very much like what Paul exhorted us to do--concentrate on whatever is good. The LDS Articles of Faith also exhorts the LDS to respect and obey the laws of the land. It also exhorts them to grant religious liberty to folks. IMO, we should do as well.

I'll see if I can find them for you.

BTW do you know that the LDS stress being prepared, and are one of the many largest religious charity organizations--Catholic Charities, Samaritan's Purse, Operation Blessing, Salvation Army as well as others? About five years ago, we had a severe flood (covered a freeway--so it cut off a way to get supplies, many towns, many deaths). The LDS provided barrels of clean drinking water to towns effected around here. And each LDS is expected to have at least a year's supply of food on hand. Plus they are to extend this help to neighbors and those in need. (Heck I even have a list of emergency preparations from them and I am not LDS and they are well aware that I am quite happy being Catholic.)

Also, what kind of making fun of has Obama done?

How on earth did you miss Obama's snide remark (as if it was wrong) that the Christians in Pennsylvania "cling to their God and guns"? Wondering how you missed that youtube someone posted of Obama sneeringly making fun of the Bible as if it was out-of-touch. Something about which part of the Bible we want to believe? The part on stoning or some equally out-of-context suggestion.

The LDS Articles of Faith (all Mormons--they prefer to be called LDS, "Latter Day Saints" believe) Oh, they are usually shocked to hear that some claim that they don't believe in Jesus. "His name is right there in the name of our church--The Latter Day Saints of the Church of Jesus Christ" they will exclaim. Oh, all their prayers end in "in the name of Jesus Christ".

From Wikipedia:

Nevertheless, [Mormon founder Joseph] Smith believed the Bible of his era had degenerated from its original form. Smith blamed the Catholic Church for the loss of biblical books and for introducing corruptions and obfuscations in the biblical text.[14] Smith said that the Book of Mormon revealed "plain and precious things that had been taken away" from the Bible.[15] (Smith also completed an unpublished revision of the Bible in 1833,[16] which he said corrected many of these errors.[17]) Ultimately, Smith endowed the Book of Mormon with a status equal to that of the Bible.[18]
In Elder Bruce R. McConkie's 1958 edition of Mormon Doctrine, he had stated his unofficial opinion that the Catholic Church was part of "the church of the devil" and "the great and abominable church" because it was among organizations that misled people away from following God's laws.

Mitt Romney was a bishop in this organization. Maybe someone should ask him if he believes these slanders against the Catholic Church.

Do you believe that we are all products of God the Father copulating with his wife? Mormons do! They refer to God's wife as Heavenly Mother. Also, they believe God the Father has a wife. Just saying.

Straight from the Vatican's website:

Response on the validity of baptism conferred by «mormons»

Mormon baptisms are not considered valid by the Catholic Church.

So? I was aware of this much longer than you I bet.

It doesn't mean that they are not Christian by the simplest defintion--belief in Jesus as God's son and following His teachings.

We are Christians by a more complicated definition. The LDS one *plus* belief in the Trinity *plus* historical and traditional beliefs.
