I had a dream that I was walking down a street in a neighboring town to my hometown. In this dream, I believe I was living there. The area was really dark, very unlit. There were people loitering on the side of the street, I couldn't recognize faces. Occasionally there would be flashes from a flashlight along the side of the street that I could see. At one point though, a group of four thugs jumped in front of me, two black, two white, and the one in front, a black man, ordered me to give him the backpack I was carrying. I could see he didn't have any weapon, so I tried to resist. He lifted me up off the ground, and one of his associates handed him a knife. He then puts me down and repeats the order. I beg with him, "No man, please, I have a letter to my son in there." Also, in my head, I was thinking that I had a large sum of money in the bag, but didn't mention it to him, just the letter to my son. Then I woke up.

It's worth mentioning that I have no children.

Here's my interpretation of your dream for what it's worth. The dream was dark, usually indicating a dream by the powers of darkness. You being lifted up off the ground says that you were light (in spirit), out of your body - which I believe is always the case. You truly were in your neighboring town, in the invisible, in the netherworld. The thought of having money and a child could have been a lie put in your head by a fallen angel. The thugs could have been gangsters dreaming themselves, or a devil taking the free will away from people, or human devils without god doing the will of their father. The devils do much work in our dreams.

I looked at your profile, and it seems you have a heart for certain countries. It looks like you devote prayer and planning to improve the state of people's lives in different locations. That might be your child.

It also might explain why you were based in a different neighborhood.

If you were to be on guard for the wiles of the adversary, then where would he/they begin to weaken your effectiveness? Intimidation is a good start.

A man lifting another grown man off the ground is a power play. It disables them and makes them feel foolish. Your feet get you where you need to go, but they are totally ineffective if they don't touch the ground.

I don't want to read too much into this, but things might come to you... there could be something theoretical/philosophical that you are allowing to disable your mobility. For example, a Christian who understands Buddhism and sees some wisdom in it, might allow it to have more power than needed, when communicating with other people. The thugs acted as though they owned the corner, but you knew they did not. Still, you allowed them control.

Your stance assumed that the thugs were more powerful than you. Who is most powerful? The most High God. And you are His child. He goes with you into those dark places. His power working through you sets new rules, establishes new dynamics. You are not a victim to those who intimidate, or to long-established customs.

Your letter was precious -- what you wanted to communicate to those you cared about. The money also had value, but your focus was your mission.

Do you have a good group of people who will pray for your personal ministry? If not, I would suggest that you establish a solid handful of friends who rely on each other for prayer support.

That just sounds like a latent fear and if you think that you could be in danger, walk home with friends or commute on a bus or in a taxi if you don't have a car. Though public transportation isn't always safer, it gives thugs less time to catch up with you.

It probably would've been smart of me to state that my home area is really small, rural even. My hometown has a population of about 900 people, and the neighboring town that I was in in my dream has a population of 1,400, with a low crime rate and no gang activity.

parsley's interpretation seems to make sense to me though.

They may not have been from your home town. Earthly space is not a limitation for the powers of darkness

The thing was the last reply was dealing with the physical realm, and that in that dream, I was in an area where I was comfortable, and knew I didn't have to fear for my life just walking down the street at night.

There is interesting Wisdom, there:

Better a free spirit, than an open wound

I think... Thanks for sharing!

You're right, it is better to be free. The demons really come into your life after you've been found. Only heaven makes it a blessing.

hi, two men were white, two men were dark. Good and evil, light and darkness.

The darkness wanted your backpack, you struggle to keep your backpack, you want it so badly you lie to keep it.....what did you want to keep? Money.

with no judgment from me, only love, I ask, could you be carrying the sin of greed, the love of money?
