I love being a Republican. I 'stand' for something. Life, marriage and free enterprise for starters. Obama has failed horribly at such an important job, to include pitting people against one another, like the 'rich' of my beloved country. A prejudice he stokes continuously. Unemployment, huge deficit, Obamacare to include a mandate against my Catholic religion (that his Vice President seems ignorant about).

I just wanted to start a nice peaceful thread for my fellow 'right wingers' to weigh in.

I too was once a republican, believing that the party was for all these things.

George Bush, along with GOP congressional members kike Paul Ryan, showed me how foolish I was to place faith in a political party.

I've been a solid independent ever since the invasion of Iraq and Afghanistan.

The Bush family is not a perfect enough model of how republicans should be.

I used to be a diehard conservative myself. But I just see Republican policies giving incentive to be selfish. Liberalism is a lot more unselfish generally than conservatism.

Now, apparently the rulers are aware of this fact, so they take hot button social issues such as abortion, gay marraige, and public prayer and divide them up so that it creates a more equal balance. That way the electorate will be easier split down the middle, not allowing one party to become too dominate over the other. As the electorate changes, the hot button issues that they split up will change as well.

Therefore, I no longer participate in politics, because it is designed to always be divided 50/50 for stability reasons. So I just hang out and try to be good. ;)

I believe in less taxation and freedom to spend the money which does cause the taxes to increase because when we spend we cause ppl employed to offer goods and services.

Jim, I used to be democrat. But their immoral stance turned me off once grace smacked me in the head.

republicans are not suppose to be selfish really

None of us ought be selfish. Love of God and neighbor. "Love" is action through and through.

I have a confession to make. Because of what people said during the Bush years, their anger, their disrespect, etc, I vowed to myself I would not disrespect the highest office of our beloved land nor the person who holds that office. I am proud to say I have kept that promise, until now, the election.

I have another confession to make. I saw myself in those who were so disrespectful of President Bush. I too said awful things about President Clinton when he held that office. It's the bullying, the character assassinations, the personal attacks that get so out of hand and I was part of that mob.

Forgive me Lord.

I was raised in a household full of Roosevelt Democrats. My father adored Roosevelt, same for Truman, and my mother thought John Kennedy walked on water.

I started moving away from that model when I joined the Air Force; I voted for Reagan both times because he was for a strong defense. Whatever "Democrat" sensibilities I might have once had evaporated when Clinton was elected. (FWIW, I voted for Ross Perot in both 1992 and 1996.)

I count myself now as a total Independant. I think the Republican party is too into cronyism, and the Democrat party is so far removed from what it was in 1960, it might as well be a totally different party. The Democrats used to stand for fair working wages and prosperity for the laborer; now they stand for baby-killing, assisted suicide, and the mainstreaming of sexual perversion. I can still hold my nose and vote for the occasional Republican---but there is no way in heaven, hell, or earth that I will ever vote for a Democrat. Their platform is just too radical and amoral.

If Romney can repair some of the damage that Comrade Soetoro has inflicted on us over the last four years, in 2016 I will probably think very seriously about voting third party again.

Clinton was the same one for me - it opened my eyes.
No more voting democrat.

Also raised in a democrat household where we were indoctrinated with it.
Then the issue that became clear to me, before figuring out the Church was against it, was the abortion issue. IMHO - anyone for abortion probably has no compassion and just mouth words of verbatim 'for the poor' blah blah blah.

Yes, it was once for just wages. It has gone way off the mark of what it once was. But that's likely because abortion wasnt an issue til long after the 80's were already under way.
For whatever reason - they opted to adopt that issue as some 'female' issue they felt women wanted. Meantime, many women dont want abortions.

Someday - hoping - politicians get rid of it - because we will turn back to God.

Besides abortion - high taxes are and were even in OT standards considered a punishment from God. When a politician says 'higher taxes' or 'spread the wealth' you know God is pretty steamed with us if they win. :holy:
[They stand for every deviance and immoral issue going]

You and I think very much alike. I was an independent from 1988 to 2009. Once I understood Obama's agenda, and witnessed the decline of conservatives from the Democratic party, and after campaigning and voting for Perot in 1992, I decided the GOP best represented my viewpoints. That being said, I sign every internet petition presented to me to facilitate real competitiveness for 3rd party candidates in the future.

I would vote for Clinton instead of Obama any day.

I'd rather have a bone marrow transplant the ever vote for Clinton, Bill or Hillary.

They are the most ruthless deceitful politicians I have ever seen.

Even Nixon was a saint next to them.
