Then their issues must be individual, not their Church which is in full communion with Rome.

Jim

Is there any official melkite document or wrting which confirms that?

Things on the ground level seems a bit different, and I know sometimes groups may disagree from official teaching so would like to see what the official standards say.

Thanks

I don't have anything off hand available.

However, keep in mind there are Roman Catholics who don't agree with everything the Church teaches.

But, devote Catholics have a different attitude and accept Church doctrines as best they can.

Either way, what difference does it make?

Either the doctrines are true and you accept them, or you don't.

Hello!

I hope this is the right place to ask this. If not, then I trust the mods will move it to the correct forum. If you do, I apologize in advance!

This question came to mind when I was reading the post about Pope Benedict and why he is Catholic.

I began my journey in the Catholic Church. I was led to worship elsewhere. That isn't a critique of Catholics, but rather how I felt, and still feel, led. That is just a little background info. My best friend is a Catholic.

Is it not possible for God to work outside of the One True Church? Is it not possible for Him to call and use believers who are not in the Catholic Church? Isn't the true universal (church) the body of believers whom He has chosen?

I hope that makes sense. I am just curious. For me, the church is greater then one part of it. The church is His chosen ones, and in truth, He only knows whose hearts are truly His.

Thanks!! God bless my Catholic brothers and sisters, and Happy Easter! Praise God that our Messiah has Risen!
Wow, old thread much.

LLOJ was here. :holy:

To answer the OP - it occurs - but why would anyone want to be outside the Church that Christ and [not man] established?

One should ponder that.

The Church He established has all the sacraments that infuse grace into our souls and assist us in the race St Paul was talking about.

Peace.

I'm personally interested in the eastern rite catholic churches. Also I am interested if the Eastern catholic church actually does hold exactly the same dogmas officially speaking.

I think the Melkite Patriarch was part of the First Vatican Council
you should ask Vicky about that, she knows more about this then I do
and if I remember correctly, this was not a very good moment for the Church
but it is still official

I look at it kind of like Israel in the Old Testament
the nation was splir in two, the southern kingdom of Judah and the northern kingdom of Israel, now both had the choosen people in it, but one was legit and the other was in rebellion, but both had good jews in them

Of course much of the time both were in rebellion to God.

thank you
I am not as up on my biblical history as I should be, were the two kingdoms ever reunited?

No. The northern kingdom (Israel or Ephraim) never survived the Assyrian invasion.
