....they aren't the only ones, ever hear of Google? I'm not going to post articles from everyone who says it.

The reason I chose CNN is because the blatantly biased right wing media refers to CNN as part of the "liberal media". Since it was liberals who made the claim (Obama Administration), I figured you would find it more credible if the "Obama loving liberal media" were the ones printing articles contrary to what information the Obama administration put out.

Of course, I understand that's a hard thing for some people to wrap their minds around. Why would the "Obama loving liberal media" put out information that seems to contradict what the Obama admin. is putting out? That's not very helpful is it? It's almost as if (though of course this would NEVER happen in reality) those folks at CNN are actually reporting information they find without trying to benefit a certain party or administration. It's almost like they're just concerned with reporting facts regardless of who they help or hurt. Crazy right? Actual journalism?

I don't buy it either, its all part of that grand liberal conspiracy to monopolize facts and reason. It's not just the journalists either, its anyone who deals in "facts" and "reality" like scientists and teachers. Anyone who really wants the truth should only listen to FOX news, priests, and Sarah Palin.

Just so I understand your point, we'll trust CNN because they're going against what the WH said.

WH: Wasn't a planned attack despite a few accounts to the contrary
CNN: Wasn't a planned attack.

Yup, your argument makes perfect sense, and I don't even need fox news to show that to me. And of course CNN reports facts, like when they interviewed the creator of "the Obama that I use to know"; pure facts.

Did you actually read the cnn article? "That point was stressed as well by White House spokesman Jay Carney on Wednesday." Yup, contradictory as well.

Is it me or is it an insult to the general population of these countries to believe and operate our policy on the basis they can't control themselves around movies or cartoons?

It's funny an argument made against american foreign policy is that we treat other countries like children.

Now the argument is being made for us to treat other countries like children.

I kind of like the idea that if everyone was to run an offensive add, every day, everywhere, they'd cause the mob to go crazy and just go home after. Would it work? I don't know, but I do know that if I give in to my child's whining once, I have to give in to it the next time or it won't stop. Not just children, but children use to getting their own way through fear and intimidation.

It's amazing to me that folks have not seen the foolishness in the whole thing. I mean think about it, it's the same type message you might see at the zoo, please don't feed the animals or do anything that might upset them.....and our current mideast policy is on that level of thought. That's not good.

Oh by the way for those asking, Muhammad is doing great. He was left in the car too long in the heat, but his diaper helped and he really knows how to use a bottle. Someone was going to complain but I left a note on the door saying Muhammad is watching you and they all ran away. Want a picture? Google Danish cartoons, it's at the top of the list.
Or for recent cartoons related to Free speech or incitement? French magazine runs cartoons of Mohammed - CNN.com Google "Charlie Hebdo Mohammed Cartoons with English Translations".

The only reason it was made was to provoke a vitriolic reaction from the islamic world. Do you think the Copts, Christians and Jews in the countries where the protests are have signed up for his crusade for freedom of expression? When it's their lives that are going to be directly affected by his actions.

I don't see people jumping to defend the rights of anti-semites publishing Holocaust denial material in Canada, if you do, you'd be arrested and charged with a hate crime.

This whole business is like poking a violent animal with a long pointy stick, then sitting back with satisfaction when it reacts.

If you want Muslims to respect your right to publish things, then it's by dialogue, education and respect not by insulting them and constant prodding. They aren't going to change over night and insulting them and their prophet isn't going to help either.

I happen to think you're completely wrong. Freedom of speech means that in the US, anyone is free to criticise or even insult others as they please. What was said in the movie is irrelevant, he has the right to say it. The fact that so many Muslims are completely intolerant of the rights of others and are willing to kill those who exercise such rights is the problem.

Let's pretend for a moment a completely hypothetical situation. Let's pretend Libya was filled with nazis, extreme right-wing nazis and the more moderate everyday nazis. Let's suppose they attacked the US embassy and killed 4 Americans because someone in the US posted a video insulting Hitler. Would your response be the same? That we shouldn't say such things in the vague hope that over time, they'll become all friendly and tolerant? Maybe if we all wish upon a star they'll stop wanting the destruction of Israel...

That trailer is the most awful thing to happen to movies...ever. If it was a people, I would embrace their genocide and dance upon their graves.

No really, I can't express how bad this film is. I made high school project films with better acting and effects.

I find it hard to believe this film or trailer caused riots, because it is nearly impossible to sit through more then 2 minutes of it. You would get more fun from watching paint dry, while asleep.

Did I mention it is quite bad?

I want those 2 minutes of my life back. I could use them better nailing my face to a wall.

I loathe the term, but this was epic and i lol'd for a long time. Thank you, I needed that. ^_^

I saw the movie today, if it's the same one being talked about: "Innocence of Muslims" (or at least the nearly 14 minute clip of it, if that's an edit)

Honestly, can't see why some Muslims can't see the humor in it. It's like "The History of the World" or "Spaceballs" by Brooks but just a lot worse. Nothing is subtle in it's "message" and the mockery is over the top in it's ridiculousness.

I found myself in fits of laughter, not because I have anything against Muslims or Islam - but just because it was over the top bad and ridiculous - everything - the dialogue, the what seems to be intentionally obvious green/blue screen effects, the overdubs, the come and go reverb (in the open desert of all places), the scene cuts and the horrible acting.

It's like the movie was intentionally made to be really bad.

I struggle to see how anyone could go to such lengths as to take offence to such a poorly made film as well, but then, I believe the riots were triggered by a large number of factors with the film used as an excuse.

Seems it's all been cleared up now. It wasn't the WH, it was the one person who was informing the WH. Hey, didn't Bush try that line before?

Yea, I was mistaken when I heard the WH report that they suspected it was a planned attack a day after it happened. Apparently, I should've known that wasn't their official position...because they said "suspected".

It seems to me that there is a deliberate attempt by the WH to minimize any violence against the US and its citizens, here and abroad. It's almost as if (I know this will sound crazy) the Arab nations of the middle east have something the US wants, and they (the US) wouldn't want to risk all-out war and potentially lose access to this "thing" (whatever it is).

Nope, can't risk that. It's better to blame a scapegoat for being intolerant, hang a few Muslim extremists, and claim everything will get better in time. They're almost on the verge of liking us!!! Pretty soon we'll be having sleep-overs, secret Santa parties, and backyard bbq's with those jolly Muslims.

What parsley said, that's what I say. There are plenty of things to protest about the U.S., it doesn't make any sense that some silly film would do it. Also I have to ask: why would they RIOT? That suggests violence in THEIR region. Against whom? Why? The idea that someone like an Egypt would bring out the Egyptian police...and the people throw rocks at the Egyptian police...because of a film in the U.S.... I'm sorry, doesn't add up.

I know that's what I do when I get upset at a movie. I watched Cold Mountain. They portrayed a reverend as a coward and a sex predator. So the first thing I did was get my tank out of the garage and reload the .50 cal up top, and drove it around shooting all the retail stores on the side of the road.

The idea that someone like an Egypt would bring out the Egyptian police...and the people throw rocks at the Egyptian police...because of a film in the U.S.... I'm sorry, doesn't add up.

I doubt anyone thinks that the movie is the entire reason, but it certainly plays a part. Let me ask you and unrelated question....
Suppose you had heard that in 1940 German nazis were going around Poland killing anyone who said anything bad about, or criticised Hitler? Would you be surprised? Would you say, "Well nazis aren't going to go around killing people just for saying something bad about Hitler...that doesn't add up. They must've been killing those Polish people because of Poland's foreign policy/supporting of dictators/selling arms/generally meddling around in European affairs....those are the real reasons."

That statement sounds a bit silly now because we understand who the nazis were and what they believed. Back then, there were many people in the West who probably made similar statements because they didn't understand the ideology they were speaking about. They didn't understand it is an ideology that doesn't allow any criticism of itself. That it views all non members as unequals, or worse, less than human. They didn't understand that its ultimate goal is nothing less than world domination and there is very little they would not do to achieve it. They didn't understand that to nazis, any non Nazi is not entitled to equal rights. They didn't understand that nazis wanted to wipe out the Jews.

Now, for one more question, let me ask this...
If I told you that everything I said in the last paragraph that was true about nazis is also true of Muslims...would that help you understand why violence broke out against the West in 20 nations on September 11th? Would it be so hard for you to believe that Islam is potentially as dangerous as national socialism? If it is hard to believe....why? Is it because there are so many of them (Muslims)? Does it contradict everything you've been told about it (Islam)?
