I'm posting this forum for anyone who just desires to discuss and reason out the Word together. I would love to hear about any of your struggles, anything you may need prayer for. Look forward to hearing from you all...

If that is the case, you will never lack for any opportunity to do so here.

I personally am delving deep into apologetics and modern theological philosophy (i.e.

Francis Schaeffer - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia )

I really loves his stuff and Ravi Zacharius.

I have come to the conclusion (I believe with God's help) that much of what churches have taught over the last several hundred years is error. And that has been passed on by Christian schools and pastors so that today we have an abundance of in-fighting, back-biting and bickering among Believers all across the country. This website is an excellent example of that to our shame. I'd be interested in discussing various aspects of the Bible but need to warn you that if I or anyone else steps on someone's pet doctrine the fur will fly.

I was raised Catholic and went to Catholic school for 12 years. I was a fake Christian until last year when I was born again and subsequently baptised late last year.

I am ever greatful for God's grace and mercy.

I attend an independent Baptist church. I enjoy studying/meditating and reading God's Word, fellowshipping, going to Bible study and reading a variety of theological books.

And lastly, it is His will in preeminence not my own. (and I am a sinner)

I find it hard to comprehend God's grace and mercy myself. I was living my own life for myself, doing whatever pleased me at the time. Then one day God brought people into my life who were completely different from all the other so called christians...and I finally saw who He really is! And I desired to know Him more!

Im part of a large family that lives together like the Acts church. We have home bible studies and invite others to be a part of them. We just all have the same desire to obey God and what His word says.

That sounds terrific Jen. It seems like you have your act together. (I'm still sorta picking up the pieces so to speak). But I try to give God my all each and every singular day that He grants me.

Greetings sister,

What I was thinking about just before I got here is how we all have the Holy Spirit living within us. We have the real, tangible, experiential presence of God, with us at all times, yet I often hear Christians asking "Where are you God?". The answer is of course, right here with us, always. When we were saved we were sealed with Gods Spirit and since that day, God has never left us, and will in fact always be with us forever after.

God is here with us and we are His partners here, and the job He has given us is to share His love with people. We don't belong to ourselves any longer, and so we should not live for ourselves but only for Him. God wants us to be His hands and feet here and tell others about how they can come to know Him too.

So, if a Christian cannot find God, it could be because they aren't living for Him as they should. When our priorities are matching His priorities, we don't ever wonder where He is. When we are sharing His love, we know He is right here with us, because God is love. When we are living for ourselves, we only looking at ourselves and so we miss Him entirely. That is why we have to always keep our eyes on Jesus and surrender our heart to Him completely. We must obey Him so we may abide in His love. It's when we do this that He said He would reveal Himself to us:

John 14:21

Whoever has my commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves me. And he who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and manifest myself to him

That's fascinating. I've often wondered why the church is generally not following the model given to us in Acts, and what a church like that would look like in modern times. How did that get started and how does it operate?

Hmm, that's interesting. I would also like to hear more about this, as I too live communally with other Christians, which we've modeled after the lifestlye of Jesus and the Church from Acts.

Well this will be a long story ,but I would really like to share with you all how I came to the Lord first. I didn't grow up going to church. My parents told me there was a God, so I knew to pray to Him when something bad happened. That was the extent of my knowledge of the Lord, yet grew up calling myself a christian. I moved out with my best friend, just like everyone else does and was just completely living for myself. I had such a desire to be married that i somehow thought I would find that by meeting guys however I could...which now that I think about it...left me feeling even more discouraged when it never worked out. When I was 21, my younger brother started hanging out w/ this family, and he started talking so much about the Lord...I thought he sounded a little crazy at the time. lol He kept persisting that i meet them, but it took me awhile to give in b/c I had my own friends, so I didnt care to meet his. I finally went over there to hang out with the girls that lived there...and then I went again...and again. I found myself never wanting to leave there. I didn't know what it was then...but i felt so drawn to be there. They were completely different from any other christians I had ever met...I truly felt the love of Christ. So, I asked to move in right after I turned 22, and we have been together ever since! This father raised his kids up in the Lord and they all grew up and made the choice that they wanted to be a follower of Christ...so they are still with him. My little sister ended up marrying one of his sons lol And we are all living together in one house. The guys all go out and work...the women take care of the kids, or in my case, help out the moms, and we keep up the house b/c the Word says a woman should be busy at home. I also enjoy cooking so it is great to have a meal ready for the guys when they have worked all day! The Lord also started up a house cleaning business as a ministry to serve other women, something that we never pursued, just started by word of mouth! We share all of our money in common. We have also had several people move in with us, who wanted to seek the Lord, but so far no one has continued in it. We all hold out hope for anyone to come along who only wants to uphold Christ and his teachings! Please let me know if you have anymore questions...I tried to be as brief as possible.

Hi Jen
As I read this account, I was reminded of this video I saw on the Net, about this polygamous :) family in Nevada (can't quite remember the exact state). - Anyway, I think there's like 4 wives & there were talking about sharing "all things in common": what you too said. - is that what you too are describing? - if not, can you explain the difference? - What specific religion is in this household you share?

hey renewed, I definitely dont have my act together but I am striving to die to myself daily, so that I may be a vessel fit for His use.

that was well said Jen. IMO that is the essense of our "walk". If this is our focus I'd say that the person was definitely on the narrow path.

Dying to yourself is certainly a powerful message Christ gave us. TY for the post.

Well we are not polygamous. It's exactly as the Acts church is described in the Word. This is the model that we strive to live by. Acts 2:42 They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. 43 Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. 44 All the believers were together and had everything in common. 45 They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. 46 Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47 praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved. Acts 4:32-All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of their possessions was their own, but they shared everything they had. 33 With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And God’s grace was so powerfully at work in them all 34 that there were no needy persons among them.
