Julia is out of surgery! She did great and her breathing was fine! They got the biopsy they need and part of the tumor, but there is still some left that surgery for now won't get. They are not sure what type of tumor it is yet but they do suspect a Glioma. That being said the surgeon did say depending upon what grade it is, there might be a good chance of treatment and possibly a cure!! She is intubated right now and will be sedated for a few hours until they feel she is okay to wake up. Thank you all for your prayers! Also pray for another little girl who is up here named Akiana. She is not doing well at all. I will spare the details but her family needs our prayers as well! Keep believing for a miracle in all the children up here!!
Day 2 out of surgery and Julia is making a lot of progress! She got her tube taken out yesterday and was breathing fine on her own. She ate some chicken broth last night and some pudding this morning. She has a big head wrap on over her incision. I promise she is the cutest little mummy you have every seen! The nurses are doing great about keeping her pain under control. She had an MRI yesterday to see what was left of the tumor, and the surgeon said he got about as much as he could without the risk going way up. We are now sit and wait for the biopsy results which are going to take up to 5 more days to get. Hopefully we can get moved out of ICU and onto a regular peds floor today so she can play! Thanks as always for all your love and prayers! Little girl is no doubt doing so well because of them! Love you all!
Possibly coming home tomorrow but not totally sure. They will send the results of her biopsy to her doctor in Asheville and treatment plans will be put together. So happy to be coming home!! Thank you again for all your prayers! Continue to pray for Julia's complete healing and restoration.
We just found out the results of the biopsy. It is a Stage 3 glioma. It is aggressive, fast growing, and there is not much they can do. Chemo may slow it up some, but from a medical standpoint there is not a lot of hope now. Really broken up right now and though I love and value all of you who have been praying, I don't want sympathy or comfort or suggestions about treatments or remedies, I just want prayer. I crave your prayers for Julia and my family more than anything else in the world right now. I so appreciate all of you and the love you have expressed and everything done up to now, but the real battle begins now and it will be won before His feet or nowhere else. Just PRAY with your whole heart for her healing and that God's peace and grace will manifest in this situation. Thanks to all.
David (Julia's grandfather) just posted this on Facebook
Hey everyone! Sorry it has taken so long to update. We have been trying to deal with emotions and getting settled back in at home. Yesterday Julia's Neurosurgeon came in a spoke with me and Josh about the biopsy results. She has a grade 3 brain stem glioma. It is a fairly rapid growing tumor, but it is not hopeless. We go Friday to set up a treatment plan with her pediatric oncologist. She has already started physical therapy to help increase strength in her right side. She is still having some pain from the surgery but she is not letting it slow her down! She has played dress up and also painted with her daddy today. Please continue to pray for Julia until she is healed and whole! I know God has his hand on our sweet baby girl. She is such a trooper.
Keep believing..Jesus has already died to heal her, now it is time to claim that healing! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the help and prayers everyone has given.
Psalm 107:19-21
Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress; he sent out his word and healed them, and delivered them from destruction. Let them thank the Lord for his steadfast love, for his wonderful works to humankind.
