None of those people saw Him rise from the dead . He rose on the Sabbath or Saturday evening . They didn't find out until Sunday morning .
In Jewish reckoning what we'd call Saturday evening was the beginning of the first day of the week and we'd call the first day of the week Sunday. Honestly, it is a little disappointing to see people arguing for a seventh day resurrection when the gospels explicitly state that Jesus rose on the first day of the week.
In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre. And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it. His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow: And for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men. And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. (Matthew 28:1-6)

And when the sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, had bought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint him. And very early in the morning the first day of the week, they came unto the sepulchre at the rising of the sun. And they said among themselves, Who shall roll us away the stone from the door of the sepulchre? And when they looked, they saw that the stone was rolled away: for it was very great. And entering into the sepulchre, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, clothed in a long white garment; and they were affrighted. And he saith unto them, Be not affrighted: Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, which was crucified: he is risen; he is not here: behold the place where they laid him. But go your way, tell his disciples and Peter that he goeth before you into Galilee: there shall ye see him, as he said unto you. (Mark 16:1-7)

Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them. And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulchre. And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus. And it came to pass, as they were much perplexed thereabout, behold, two men stood by them in shining garments: And as they were afraid, and bowed down their faces to the earth, they said unto them, Why seek ye the living among the dead? He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee, Saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again. (Luke 24:1-7)

The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulchre, and seeth the stone taken away from the sepulchre. Then she runneth, and cometh to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and saith unto them, They have taken away the Lord out of the sepulchre, and we know not where they have laid him. Peter therefore went forth, and that other disciple, and came to the sepulchre. So they ran both together: and the other disciple did outrun Peter, and came first to the sepulchre. And he stooping down, and looking in, saw the linen clothes lying; yet went he not in. Then cometh Simon Peter following him, and went into the sepulchre, and seeth the linen clothes lie, And the napkin, that was about his head, not lying with the linen clothes, but wrapped together in a place by itself. Then went in also that other disciple, which came first to the sepulchre, and he saw, and believed. For as yet they knew not the scripture, that he must rise again from the dead. Then the disciples went away again unto their own home. But Mary stood without at the sepulchre weeping: and as she wept, she stooped down, and looked into the sepulchre, And seeth two angels in white sitting, the one at the head, and the other at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain. (John 20:1-12)

That was cute, but it there is no Scriptural basis to your premise.

John 19:31

31Now it was the day of Preparation, and the next day was to be a special Sabbath.

John 19:41-42

41At the place where Jesus was crucified, there was a garden, and in the garden a new tomb, in which no one had ever been laid. 42Because it was the Jewish day of Preparation and since the tomb was nearby, they laid Jesus there.

Luke 23:53-56

Then he took it down, wrapped it in linen cloth and placed it in a tomb cut in the rock, one in which no one had yet been laid. 54It was Preparation Day, and the Sabbath was about to begin.

55The women who had come with Jesus from Galilee followed Joseph and saw the tomb and how his body was laid in it. 56Then they went home and prepared spices and perfumes. But they rested on the Sabbath in obedience to the commandment. (Note, Jesus must have not changed the 7th day Sabbath, because disciples were still keeping it up till his death!)

Luke 24:1-9

1Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them. 2And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulchre. 3And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus. 4And it came to pass, as they were much perplexed thereabout, behold, two men stood by them in shining garments: 5And as they were afraid, and bowed down their faces to the earth, they said unto them, Why seek ye the living among the dead? 6He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee, 7Saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again. (Note the Preparation Day was Friday, Saturday was the Sabbath from sundown to sunrise on Sunday, therefore the "third day" would be first light on Sunday. Therefore, we can conclude that Jesus even kept the Sabbath holy by resting in the Father's care on the Sabbath, a day of rest.)

I agree with that point, there are some very strange doctrines that Evangelicals have come up with these days in the attempt to do away, and make of non-effect the plain words of Scripture. The sequence of the death of Jesus is so clear, especially as recorded in the the book of Luke.

The Sabbath being talked about in verse 31 is the High Holy Sabbath, Passover. Christ became our Passover Lamb. The verse is not talking about the regular weekly Sabbath. The regular weekly Sabbath followed.

Yes . Jesus died ; there was a special Sabbath ; the next day people bought spices and other things;
The bible does not say that! What it does say is that after Jesus was put in the tomb the Sabbath started, they had to put him in the tomb before the Sabbath, and they had to do it because it was the day of preparation (Fridays were called the day of preparation because on them Jews prepared for the Sabbath) and the Sabbath was about to start (at sunset, Jesus having breathed his last at about 3 PM). Then came the Sabbath, and then on the first day of the week, as the dawn sun was about to rise, the women went to the tomb with spices and and things for Jesus' body. But to their amazement the tomb was open and the body was no longer in the tomb - their spices were superfluous.
And it was about the sixth hour, and there was a darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour. And the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was rent in the midst. And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost. Now when the centurion saw what was done, he glorified God, saying, Certainly this was a righteous man. And all the people that came together to that sight, beholding the things which were done, smote their breasts, and returned. And all his acquaintance, and the women that followed him from Galilee, stood afar off, beholding these things.

And, behold, there was a man named Joseph, a counsellor; and he was a good man, and a just: (The same had not consented to the counsel and deed of them; ) he was of Arimathaea, a city of the Jews: who also himself waited for the kingdom of God. This man went unto Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus. And he took it down, and wrapped it in linen, and laid it in a sepulchre that was hewn in stone, wherein never man before was laid. And that day was the preparation, and the sabbath drew on. And the women also, which came with him from Galilee, followed after, and beheld the sepulchre, and how his body was laid. And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments; and rested the sabbath day according to the commandment.

Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them. And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulchre. And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus. He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee, Saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again. And they remembered his words, And returned from the sepulchre, and told all these things unto the eleven, and to all the rest. It was Mary Magdalene, and Joanna, and Mary the mother of James, and other women that were with them, which told these things unto the apostles. And their words seemed to them as idle tales, and they believed them not. Then arose Peter, and ran unto the sepulchre; and stooping down, he beheld the linen clothes laid by themselves, and departed, wondering in himself at that which was come to pass. (Luke 23:44-24:12)
The words in red above give the days:
  1. Preparation
  2. Sabbath
  3. First day
then the weekly Sabbath ; and the next day they fouind out He Rose.
If you skipped the extra days that your recounting of events introduce then you'd have it right. Remember, the scripture gives only three days by name in this account (1) Preparation (the day before Sabbath), (2) Sabbath, and (3) the first day of the week, on which they brought the spices only to find the tomb empty. No other days are mentioned, but your story needs two more days; an extra Sabbath and a normal working day.
They found out the fourth day after He died . He rose on Saturday . Whether it was on the Sabbath or just as Saturday evening approached - it was still Satuirday .
The passages in all four gospels testify that it was the first day of the week when the empty tomb was found and all of the scriptures as well as the early church writers recount the resurrection as happening on the first day of the week.

Swine are unclean because they consume. They do not have sweet glands and store toxins if their fat. Christ's death and resurrection did not give swine sweet glands. They are still dirty animals. Eat them if you want but it's like eating your vacuum cleaner bag. You might want to make some mop bucket gravy to go with your meal.

Do you remember the meal they shared in that upper room (Luke 22)? It was the preparation day for Passover, the High Holy Sabbath of the Hebrew year. Have you ever heard Christ being called "the Lamb of God?" He became our Passover Lamb. Christ was in the tomb before sundown and the start of Passover. The day after Passover was preparation day for the weekly Sabbath, than it was the weekly Sabbath day. Christ arose sometime after sunset of that weekly Sabbath day (the first day of the week).

That was cute, but it there is no Scriptural basis to your premise.

I think you'll find there is!

Jesus was crucified, died and was laid in the tomb. They wanted to get this done before the Sabbath. Then they had the Sabbath, and because the women were resting, (obviously they were obeying it, they were Jews), they went to the tomb ealrly the following day to anoint Jesus' body. That was when they found the tomb was empty, on the first day of the week. And that is when we celebrate Jesus' rising from the dead.

But no one, except God, witnessed the actual resurrection; the moment Jesus sat up, unfolded the grave clothes and walked out. So it's possible it could have been on the 7th day. And there is another problem - we count the days differently. If Jesus had risen at 3pm on the 7th day, he would have risen on the Sabbath; if he rose 4 hours later, then for the Jews, that would be 1a.m on the first day of the week. For us, it would be 7pm on Saturday since our days go from midnight to midnight.

You realise, I hope, that Passover can fall on a Friday or on other days of the week. And I hope you noticed that only three days are named in the account in sacred scripture, the three days I listed for you in the post to which you replied. These things are sufficient in themselves to justify the the chronology commonly used in the church, (1) good Friday as the day on which our Lord died, (2) holy Saturday as the Sabbath day on which his body rested in the tomb and during which his apostles and the women rested, (3) Resurrection Sunday as the day on which the Lord's resurrection was proclaimed.

If you want to believe in a Wednesday crucifixion you are free to do so, but the gospel accounts of the death and resurrection of the Lord do not mention Wednesday and Thursday.

Wrong. Luke 24 said it was the Preparation Day, when Jesus was crucified, that would Friday. It was indeed a "high Sabbath, the ceremonial sabbath was on the same day as the 7th day Sabbath of the 10 Commandments.

Swine are clean because Jesus said they are.

Wrong. Jesus gave Moses the dietary laws in Leviticus, and swine were deemed by Jesus to be unclean, so then its totally illogical that all of a sudden they are deemed to be clean in the NT! What you are saying is irrational.

Wrong. If you read your footnotes in your Bible, Mark added that comment in his Gospel. It was not Jesus' words. Additionally, if you bothered to read and study the whole context of the narrative, the whole controversy was not about what animals were clean vs unclean, but about eating clean food without partaking in man made ceremonial hand washing, which were created by the Pharisees, that had no basis in the Bible.

The Bible account uses a sundown to sundown day reckoning, not Roman time keeping, midnight to midnight to determine days.

But WE don't.

In fact, how do we know that "very early in the morning on the first day of the week" was not in fact 4 or 5 hours after sundown - which by our reckoning tyoday would be 10-11a.m on the Saturday?

And does it matter anyhow? Why is it being portrayed as a sin to worship God on the 1st day of the week and not the 7th? Do you think God is pleased that we believe and rejoice in the resurrection, and celebrate the victory of the Lord Jesus over sin and death - or furious that we do it on the "wrong" day? Come to that, does he care that much about the days of the week? Because if he DOES, might he not be upset that we have decided to name them after pagan gods?
I believe God is far more concerned THAT we honour, worship and put him first, rather than getting in a stew about WHEN we do it. Sometimes Christians have to work on a day when others are celebrating the Sabbath; yet they still honour God and keep it at other times.

Wrong. If you read your footnotes in your Bible, Mark added that comment in his Gospel.

Even if he did, Peter was the source behind Mark's Gospel; Mark was his scribe. I doubt that Mark would have written anything without Peter's authorisation or that Peter agreed with.
Unless you're saying that there is at least one phrase in the NT that isn't trustworthy or inspired and that the early church made a mistake in allowing it to remain in there. And what about Paul's words that "food does not bring us near to God" (1 Cor 8:8). Rather a radical thing for a Jew and ex Pharisee to say.

The whole vocabulary of your post reeks of sacrificial and ceremonial laws given by Moses. "Clean" and "unclean" are concepts that do not apply to foods in the Christian religion and God's faithful people today may eat any foods for which they give thanks, this is explained in Romans chapter fourteen and in the gospel of saint John. Other passages also explain the end of the dietary distinctions of clean and unclean and touch not and handle not - these are concepts characteristic of the Mosaic law and its sacrificial system with its holiness code but not of Christian worship nor of Christian day to day living. You are, as always, welcome to observe whatever dietary restrictions you like and to refrain from meats of all kinds if you wish to be vegetarian, nobody will complain if you do so. But please, do not try to make the Mosaic dietary laws a matter of Christian religious practise nor something which ought to bind the consciences of Christian people because the Mosaic dietary laws are not a religious practise nor a binding command for Christians.

Have you studied the OT? Have you not read of the anger that God felt with people during the time of Moses refused to keep the 7th day Holy? The judgments of God came upon the mixed multitude that flagrantly "did their own thing" irrespective of the the clear "thus saith the Lord" that God thundered from Mt. Sinai. There are consequences when human beings flagrantly thumb their noses at the God of Heaven. When God thundered on Mt. Sinai and wrote His holy Law, the 10 Commandments in stone, and gave them to Moses, who placed them in the Ark of the Covenant. That you as a mere mortal can put your own spin on them? You are not God, God is God, and He is the only One who can change His Holy Law, but in all practical terms, that is what you are trying to justify, that you and so many others on this forum, can on a whim change God's Holy Law!
