A question about SDA methodology.

I was never SDA but I did attend an SDA grade school, hung out with that crowd, and listened to a lot of their doctrine a few years before I converted to Christianity.

I can't say that I picked up on any systematic methodology for interpreting the law, but what I did see was a lot of fear. They held a ton of seminars about the anti-christ and just about everything you should be terrified of. I guess in that kind of environment the bondage of the law might seem to be a small thing when you see evil everywhere.

Is it assumed that non Jewish societies took the clue and cue from Scripture? If so would that not make every sociaty basicly Jewish? Paul does not think so from his discussion in Romans 1-3.

Did the Moasaic law also have a certian region in mind?

Did God borrow from pagan societies for the 10 Cs?

What does the Bible say on the foods issue? It says specifically that an animal was unclean to an Israelite and nothing about other nations. The word you found in those commands is limited to Israel and do not mean the whole world.

It's true...law does breed a fearful environment.

rom 8;15 For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!”

Both the OC and NC are given to the Jews/OC Hebrew Israelites FIRST, then given to us.

From what I know, the apostate religion of Judaism believes their Messiah hasn't yet come with the NC of Jeremiah. Woe is them!

but where did the promise rest?:)

4;10 How then was it counted to him? Was it before or after he had been circumcised? It was not after, but before he was circumcised.
Right on

Lazarus and the Rich Man - Here a little, there a little - Commentary

GALATIANS 3:6 . . . Abraham "believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness."
7 Therefore know that only those who are of faith are sons of Abraham.
8 And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel to Abraham beforehand, saying, "In you all the nations shall be blessed."
9 So then those who are of faith are blessed with believing Abraham.

The deaths of both the rich man (who represented the Jews) and Lazarus (who represented the other nations) are symbolic in this parable.
Here, their demise depicts an elemental change in the status and position of the two groups.

As the passage above (as well as chapters 4 and 9 of Romans) shows, Gentile believers become "sons of Abraham" through faith in the Messiah. This faith allows Gentiles to no longer be "strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God" (Eph. 2:19). For centuries the Jews had received the benefits of being God's chosen people by virtue of being Abraham's physical descendants. But after the sacrifice of Yeshua, this place of honor and blessing would be predominantly given to the people represented by Lazarus. This is the meaning of being "carried to the bosom of Abraham" in this parable.

Frogster-

What your friends are doing is 'mouthing' what their sect's heirarchy has told them that they are to believe. Here is a website where the fundamentals of the SDA sect can be read:
