Waht exactly is Scientology?

it's a cult, started by sci fi author L Ron Hubbard. in a nutshell, the Dark Lord Xenu killed a bunch of aliens, and as humans evolved and became self aware, those alien ghosts cling to us thinking that we are their bodies. the goal of Scientology is to clean oneself of these ghosts.

pretty fruity stuff.

IT IS HILARIOUS!

But it is just s scam basically and a big joke that came from an awful sci-fi writer known best for his works such as battlefield Earth the most highest ranking lowest scored film of all time.

At its lowest level, it concerns itself with helping people face traumatic events in their past or points of tension in their present so that by confronting these (through Scientology's specific techniques, for which one pays a nice little fee) one can be liberated from them and reach one's self-actualization / potential.

The metaphysical theory behind this process is as described above: the idea is to remove alien souls from one's self.

What makes it go from "odd religion" to "cult" is the way it treats ex-members who speak out against it. They tend to end up embroiled in lawsuits, or dead. In other words, Scientology is one part religion, one part money-making scam, and one part mafia.

Stay away. Stay far, far away.

Funny, I never tasted beer. First thing kids do is drink beer but I started with whiskey. First taste of alcohol and I loved it

I don't know about "ruined" but it certainly did not help it much. I have a feeling he either lost a bet or owed someone a huge favor to have agreed to do that movie.
