someone please tell me what the meaning of life is.

God did here:

Ecclesiastes 12

New King James Version (NKJV)

12 Remember now your Creator in the days of your youth,
Before the difficult days come,
And the years draw near when you say,
“I have no pleasure in them”:
2 While the sun and the light,
The moon and the stars,
Are not darkened,
And the clouds do not return after the rain;
3 In the day when the keepers of the house tremble,
And the strong men bow down;
When the grinders cease because they are few,
And those that look through the windows grow dim;
4 When the doors are shut in the streets,
And the sound of grinding is low;
When one rises up at the sound of a bird,
And all the daughters of music are brought low.
5 Also they are afraid of height,
And of terrors in the way;
When the almond tree blossoms,
The grasshopper is a burden,
And desire fails.
For man goes to his eternal home,
And the mourners go about the streets.

6 Remember your Creator before the silver cord is loosed,[a]
Or the golden bowl is broken,
Or the pitcher shattered at the fountain,
Or the wheel broken at the well.
7 Then the dust will return to the earth as it was,
And the spirit will return to God who gave it.

8 “Vanity of vanities,” says the Preacher,
“All is vanity.”

The Whole Duty of Man

9 And moreover, because the Preacher was wise, he still taught the people knowledge; yes, he pondered and sought out and set in order many proverbs. 10 The Preacher sought to find acceptable words; and what was written was upright—words of truth. 11 The words of the wise are like goads, and the words of scholars[b] are like well-driven nails, given by one Shepherd. 12 And further, my son, be admonished by these. Of making many books there is no end, and much study is wearisome to the flesh.
13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter:
Fear God and keep His commandments,
For this is man’s all.

14 For God will bring every work into judgment,
Including every secret thing,
Whether good or evil.

I always enjoyed the Westminster Shorter Catechism: Man's chief end is to glorify God, and to enjoy Him forever.

Amen! In his book "Desiring God", John Piper went one step further and stated, "the chief end of man is to glorify God by enjoying Him forever.":)

I think it is:

Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul,

and with all thy strength and with all thy mind, and thy neighbor as thyself.

Love of God shows faith, worship, humility, belief, surrender and more. It will

result in obedience, service to Him, glorifies Him and results in a humble

Christian walk. We become witnesses for Jesus.

We also love others as we love ourselves and try to see them as God does.

Life is a test...it is only a test. We spend our 70 years down here for one reason and one reason only. Let me see if I can put this simply: We are put here to come to God, to love Him with all our heart and soul and while we are cultivating that, to be good and kind to our neighbors and friends. Or, we can love the things of this world, Satan's world, which our Father tells us not to do. Have a nice test.

someone please tell me what the meaning of life is.

The meaning of life is self evident: Cognizant awareness of existence. The purpose of life is summed up best by Oswald Chambers:

Destined To Be Holy

. . it is written, ’Be holy, for I am holy’ —1 Peter 1:16

We must continually remind ourselves of the purpose of life. We are not destined to happiness, nor to health, but to holiness. Today we have far too many desires and interests, and our lives are being consumed and wasted by them. Many of them may be right, noble, and good, and may later be fulfilled, but in the meantime God must cause their importance to us to decrease. The only thing that truly matters is whether a person will accept the God who will make him holy. At all costs, a person must have the right relationship with God.

Do I believe I need to be holy? Do I believe that God can come into me and make me holy? If through your preaching you convince me that I am unholy, I then resent your preaching. The preaching of the gospel awakens an intense resentment because it is designed to reveal my unholiness, but it also awakens an intense yearning and desire within me. God has only one intended destiny for mankind— holiness. His only goal is to produce saints. God is not some eternal blessing-machine for people to use, and He did not come to save us out of pity— He came to save us because He created us to be holy. Atonement through the Cross of Christ means that God can put me back into perfect oneness with Himself through the death of Jesus Christ, without a trace of anything coming between us any longer.

Never tolerate, because of sympathy for yourself or for others, any practice that is not in keeping with a holy God. Holiness means absolute purity of your walk before God, the words coming from your mouth, and every thought in your mind— placing every detail of your life under the scrutiny of God Himself. Holiness is not simply what God gives me, but what God has given me that is being exhibited in my life.

the quality that distinguishes a vital and functional being from a dead body.

Creation= Man For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created

Serve God respect God and Love God.

John 17:3 "And this is eternal life, that they may know Thee,the only true God and Jesus Christ whom Thou hast sent." Life is eternal, not a matter of the short time we live here on earth. So real life is to "know" God and His Son Jesus Christ. Not just know about Him, but know Him personally. The Greek word for know in this verse is the word "ginosko" which means to know by experience. When Adam was created it says that God breathed into him the breath of life. God gave him his spirit and he became a living being. When Adam sinned he died spiritually. Through Jesus Christ death on the cross and our believing in that sacrifice for our sins for salvation God gives us the Holy Spirit to live in us that we may have life again through Christ. We come to "know" Him through this new life in Christ.

Welcome aboard. What a place to start for a first post! That question has certainly been hanging around for a while. Here is my summary:

We were made to be part of a web of relationships.

John (1 Jn 4:8, 16) made this summary observation about God: God is love.

Now if you consider carefully Colossians 1: 16, 17 you see that all things were made by Jesus. But what preceded that? There was nothing but God. As we were made in some ways to resemble Him (Gen 1: 26, 27) we see that love needs other “people” who share like affections, desires, interests yet with variations. So out of God’s need for love He set about to make an environment where love was present and flourished. His love is not a type that reserves everything for Himself. While He reserves a primary and central place He takes great joy in watching and participating in love played out among those of His creation.

“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself” Matthew 22:37-39.

God is love. It is only out of HIs love that we can know love. Our salvation came by His love reaching out to us not us looking for Him. Because of our sin we were enemies of God. Our sin seperarted us from relationship with Him. While we were yet sinners Christ died for the ungodly; He first loved us. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him will have eternal life. God did not need someone to love, because He is love; but He created us that He might express His love and reveal His glory in us.
