Actually, I wasn't seeking to "reprove" you at all. Rather, I was merely showing how Jesus spoke on the whole "time to weep" and "time to laugh" issue...even if some/many don't like HIS INTERPRETATION of such. Incidentally, Solomon also had such things as the following to say in relation to "laughter":
Ecclesiastes 2:1-13
"I said in mine heart, Go to now, I will prove thee with mirth, therefore enjoy pleasure: and, behold, this also is vanity. I SAID OF LAUGHTER, IT IS MAD: AND OF MIRTH, WHAT DOETH IT? I sought in mine heart to give myself unto wine, yet acquainting mine heart with wisdom; and to lay hold on folly, till I might see what was that good for the sons of men, which they should do under the heaven all the days of their life. I made me great works; I builded me houses; I planted me vineyards: I made me gardens and orchards, and I planted trees in them of all kinds of fruits: I made me pools of water, to water therewith the wood that bringeth forth trees: I got me servants and maidens, and had servants born in my house; also I had great possessions of great and small cattle above all that were in Jerusalem before me: I gathered me also silver and gold, and the peculiar treasure of kings and of the provinces: I gat me men singers and women singers, and the delights of the sons of men, as musical instruments, and that of all sorts. So I was great, and increased more than all that were before me in Jerusalem: also my wisdom remained with me. And whatsoever mine eyes desired I kept not from them, I withheld not my heart from any joy; for my heart rejoiced in all my labour: and this was my portion of all my labour. Then I looked upon all the works that my hands had wrought, and on the labour that I had laboured to do: and, behold, all was vanity and vexation of spirit, and there was no profit under the sun. And I turned myself to behold wisdom, and madness, and folly: for what can the man do that cometh after the king? even that which hath already been done. THEN I SAW THAT WISDOM EXCELLETH FOLLY, AS FAR AS LIGHT EXCELLETH DARKNESS. The wise man's eyes are in his head; but the fool walketh in darkness: and I myself perceived also that one event happeneth to them all."
If there was ever anybody who truly "tasted it all", then it was Solomon. However, after having "tasted it all", Solomon understood that all was vanity and vexation of spirit in the face of the reality of "the one event that happens to all" or in face of the reality of death. For this purpose, Solomon wrote:
Ecclesiastes 7:2-6
"It is better to go to the house of mourning, than to go to the house of feasting: for that is the end of all men; and the living will lay it to his heart. SORROW IS BETTER THAN LAUGHTER: FOR BY THE SADNESS OF THE COUNTENANCE THE HEART IS MADE BETTER. The heart of the wise is in the house of mourning; but the heart of fools is in the house of mirth. It is better to hear the rebuke of the wise, than for a man to hear the song of fools. For as the crackling of thorns under a pot, so is the laughter of the fool: this also is vanity."
Solomon said that it's better to go the house of mourning (a wake or funeral) than to go to the house of feasting (a party). Why? Because this (death) is truly the end of all men (except for those who will be alive at the second coming of Christ) and the living will lay it to their hearts or hold such a realization in their hearts that ought to affect the way that they live and the way that they spend their time. Folly is just that...FOLLY. There seems to be quite a few folks on this forum who prefer such to soberness. To me, such is no "laughing matter".
Anyhow, Solomon and Jesus basically said the same exact thing WHICH WAS MY ACTUAL INTENDED POINT.
Well, I've got to get up for work in about 4 hours and I obviously haven't gone to bed yet. I'm headed there, now...
Good night.
