I know this isn't directly related, but it does show the growing fear of and contempt for Christians. I apologize ahead of time for the anti-christian bias of the article:

Man wins last-minute appeal to distribute Bibles at Pride | StarTribune.com

It just shows tba because of "P.C." we are rapidly becoming Canada:

Christian preacher arrested for saying homosexuality is a sin :: International Free Press Society

CULTURE NEWS: Canada: Pastor Found Guilty of Hate Crime

May God Richly Bless You! MM

One pastor was wrongfully arrested for hate speech, one was wrongfully convicted for hate speech and one guy was wrongfully denied access to a pride festival. All of them had support from free speech and/or gay rights groups. And in the end judges ruled in their favor.

Charge against 'gay sin' preacher dropped

Veteran gay rights campaigner Peter Tatchell condemned the arrest and urged the home secretary to issue new guidelines to the police.
He said: "Although I disagree with Dale Mcalpine and support protests against his homophobic views, he should not have been arrested and charged. Criminalisation is a step too far."
Chf Supt Steve Johnson, police commander for West Cumbria, said: "We would like to reassure the public that we respect, and are committed to upholding, the fundamental right to freedom of expression.
Stephen Boissoin on free speech, inappropriate content and his anti-gay letter

In editorials, Xtra has also defended Boissoin's right to free speech, arguing that although Boissoin's views are appalling, censorship does not solve the problem of homophobia.
Man wins last-minute appeal to distribute Bibles at Pride

Pride Executive Director Dot Belstler said Johnson walked through the park without incident except that some people asked not to be videotaped by his son.
"Anybody can have freedom of speech," Belstler said. "I am worried about traffic control ... about people getting through the path." She estimated that more than 150,000 people were in Loring Park Sunday. Johnson alone wouldn't cause a problem, she said, but a few other groups also asked to distribute literature, some on the sidewalk across from the park, "which we prefer," she said.
Not wanting an anti gay preacher at a pride festival is like not wanting Fred Phelps at a military funeral. It's an understandable reaction.

No, books on non-fictional and objective topics do not "stand on their reputation". They stand on the basis of being based in research.

Why on earth would we have heard of this person?

because his works on the topic are one of the first and last of it's kind. No one has done this type of research in apologetics that Josh has done.

So spouting off about his reputation isn't going to help you -- no matter how much he may be loved by the world. ;)

He should be loved by you! His is a Christian and is doing battles for you on campuses throughout the US.

So how did he earn his oh-so-impressive reputation?

I'm more interested in the quality of his work as opposed to whose side he's on -- why aren't you?

it's fine, best of it's kind. BTW he quotes FF Bruce who was a doctor of divinity and professor, I think He studied at Cambridge.

I thought you just said it was the first? Setting the bar a bit low, are we?

The Devil can cite Scripture for his purpose.

See? I can quote Shakespeare.

what do you mean? He mentions reality, but in reality you go with a good reputation for scholarship, so I honestly don't know what you mean by it.

The cops were wrong. You can't be a cop and just decide to take the easy route and side with the bigger group just for peace. When you are a police officer you are charged with upholding the law without any other considerations. If I was that dude I would have looked that cop in the eye and said "I am going to stand right here, which I have a right to do". No matter what any cops give you problems with anything you ask the golden question "am I being detained, or am I free to go"? If he says you are being detained immediately tell him "I want to speak to an attorney", if he says you are free to go you then walk away, you no longer have to legally speak with him. I would have let the police lock me up, then I would have gotten my lawyer involved for the case of his lifetime.

The lines are becoming blurred in this country. I know that we all want to believe that America is a Christian country but wake up, we are all strangers in our own land. Someone from my Bible study was just out in Dearborn and he said it's like being in a third world country.

Perhaps the simple truth is that it's not "your own land" anymore?

Perhaps the simpler truth is that it never was?
