Well my tastes are definitely pop compared to yours. I hate thrash and all that stuff. I don't like Slayer and Metallica and Megadeth and all that. I hate that stuff that sounds like a chainsaw and a guy belching into a microphone and just pure bellowing screams with drums that just basically pound like power drills. Not my thing. I was definitely an Ozzy/Maiden/Dio type of guy for metal, but more of a classic rock and progressive rock dude for most of my listening choices. More of a Rush, Yes, Steely Dan, Floyd type of dude.
Since I play guitar, I prefer to kind of be all over the place. I get moody. I was on a big Stevie Ray Vaughan blues kick for months, then switched gears radically to just basically learning every single song on Number of the Beast, Piece of Mind, Powerslave, etc. LOL
I'm all over the place!?

Yea, I liked Maiden GnR, etc when I felt like soft rock. In '87, I was in the army, moshing in the barracks, to extreme metal and punk/crossover.
Grunge was everything wrong with music. I hated it when it came out and I always will. Grunge's rise came at the demise of speed and thrash metal. I'm starting to tear up a bit myself.
