I'm 9 weeks pregnant. The ultrasound tech couldn't find the heartbeat on Tuesday but the baby was in a awkward location & hard to visualize (they had previously found a heartbeat at 7 weeks). My OB doctor wasn't even there for the ultrasound yet rashly decided that the baby must not be alive and that I should prepare for miscarriage or D&C.

Most OBs would order another ultrasound or bloodwork as follow-up but he didn't feel it was necessary. In fact, he hasn't once even checked my HCG levels! My mother-in-law who is a OB/labor nurse (for 20+ years) feels firmly that the baby is still alive. From reading online, it seems likely that the baby is still alive & well, since it can be hard to find a heartbeat at 9 weeks if the baby is in a weird position. Besides, I believe that God can work a miracle no matter what.

Please pray that everything is OK and that the baby will be alive, healthy, the right size, have a strong, audible & visible heartbeat and will be born with without any problems...and grow up to love Jesus.

We have another ultrasound scheduled for tomorrow, Saturday, Jun 30th, at the hospital. Please pray that the results will be great, the heartbeat will be easily seen and heard & they will easily see that the baby is the appropriate size for its stage of development. Again, please pray that the baby will grow up to love & serve Jesus! :)

I had a miscarriage 6 months ago & was devastated. I really feel deep in my heart that this one will make it. I'm 41 and this will be my first. I want this baby to live so badly. Please pray with me. :groupray: Thank you so much!

UPDATE 6/30/2012:

Well, I'm back from the ultrasound. I'll cut to the chase. The news was terrible. The baby should be 9 weeks 5 days in development but it is only the size of an 8 week 5 day baby. There was no heartbeat visible or audible. No movement. She did both abdominal & transvaginal. Sadly, this time this lady could see very well and the outcome was awful.

We're devastated to say the least. :-(

UPDATE 7/12/2012:

Well, I have an update.

I couldn't get the doctor to schedule a D&C quickly, so Tuesday I started having horrible cramps (read: contractions) that started getting so bad that I called the doc's office & they told me to go to the ER and they would notify the on-call doc to meet me there to do an emergency D&C. The ER wouldn't order any pain meds more than Extra-Strength Tylenol while I laid for 6-7 hours on a hospital gurney in the hallway because they were waiting for orders from my doc. I was writhing in pain for hours. Worst pain I've ever felt. Then, I started gushing blood, passing stuff & a couple of hours after that the doc finally came & I had an emergency D&C.

I had no idea that a miscarriage at 11 weeks could be so much worse than the one I had at 5 weeks.

It was horrible but I'm back home & trying to recover. Coping with a migraine right now.

Continued prayers are welcome! Sorry to have such yucky news.

Thank you so much, everybody! The ultrasound is today at 10:30 am Eastern Time (I have to be there at 10:15 am). I will definitely let you know how it goes.

If anyone happens to be around to pray for me during that time period (10:30-11:30am EDT) that would be great.

Big hugs to each of you!
