Wow...
Wondering how many other animals perished or survived...
Yes, I asked that on the news channel's FB page yesterday. Don't know if that was answered. I was concerned about the animals in the mountains, especially on Tuesday when the fire jumped from the canyon into the housing areas, with 65 mph winds. Practically zero time to move then.
Here's updates I got this morning from news conference:
Got info on another news channel. Containment up to 30%. Today's weather will not be as good as the past couple days, because very hot and windy for this afternoon, but this is a good test for the containment, the forest ranger gal said. Should be able to get some more containment today.
Well, I hope so!
Investigation ongoing on who started this horrible fire. A video put out I think on Wednesday by some folks who were on the mtns Saturday afternoon when the fire started, showed the spot where the fire started. The forest rangers (whatever the word is for them) and firefighters haven't been able to get over there yet because busy with fires, but they are hoping to have "boots on the ground" maybe today or very soon.
Last night, lots of housing areas reopened for folks to go back home then.
Closure order for Pikes Peak National Forest.
The fire perimeter is closed off in the National Forest, not the whole area.
‎1300 firefighters fighting the fires. Going to be doing a 50-acre burn to help with containment in Blodget Peak area, so if we see smoke, that's them working.
Some CO National Guard are coming down from Buckley AB in Aurora to help patrol the areas because some looting started a couple days ago, and arrests were made. So, getting more backup with that.
Second body found in a house. That makes the deaths at 2 now.
