Hi.hope you are all having a blessed day wherever you may be today :wave:

I am in need of some real Christian advice please....
Ok so my ex boyfriend has suddenly reappeared into my life as of last week after 5 years. He has told me of the rough times he has experienced etc...now he has told me that a particular woman of catholic background has helped him get through it all...I asked how,and he told me that she claims to have a gift from God...in his case,she has consulted with people who have passed that he knew( his grandparents) and on a weekly basis,tells him messages which are from these people who have passed...she has shrines in her front yard of Jesus,Mary etc...he said he would recommend me to see her because I too have had a lot of issues in the past...
Now i am certainly not keen on the idea....this does not seem Christian like to me...
What do you all think?? Is consulting with the dead Christian behavior???

What your friend is doing is strictly forbidden in the bible and for good reason - it's a door to the demonic. DO NOT participate in this!!

You are right to feel its not Christian like, at least you got convicted by the Holy Spirit. Many people reject the the warning and they end up in the enemy's den.

It is not from God.

Shrines...of Mary and Jesus???? That's just wrong. Not only are they disrespecting the Lord, they are also using His image and name to do their evil work.

Do not go there. Focus on Jesus for your own sake. Don't listen to them.
Eyesee is right, no matter how good this offer seem, the enemy is good at tempting people with offers that sound or look good.

REJECT IT!

You know Tested, I once got myself into quite a pickle because I followed after a "prophet". He could read your mail -- he knew things before they would happen and he knew some of my personal stuff (things that no one else knew) pretty well. After about a year I started feeling very uneasy around him. It came out that his beliefs about God and salvation were completely unscriptural, even to the point that he didn't even believe Jesus was God.

I remember very clearly driving down the freeway in the middle of the night asking God "How in the world did I allow myself to be so deceived?".

It was then that God very clearly spoke to me and said "Stephen, don't you EVER... EVER follow after signs and wonders again. Let this be a lesson to you."

I hope that encourages you to stay faithful to God's Word.

I have also been through some psychic stuffs, eagerly wanting to know stuffs before I came back to God.
I also learnt what you have described in ways that I felt the Lord was telling me..;
'There is no other way but my way'
'There is no other rock but me'
'There is no one else who can save or deliver you but me'
'Do not put your trust in any man to save or help you but me only'

He is God, and through Him alone comes help, deliverance, salvation, mercy and abundance. Anything else is counterfeit. They give you temporary relief only to hit you with worse things afterwards

This consulting with the dead is what God calls an abomination to Him and He forbides it.

God is the one we go to for wisdom and help.

Why would anyone try to go to dead people?

Demons work in this area and will masquerade as the dead
to deceive people and get them away from following Jesus Christ
and into false religions and demon activity.

Demons are not stupid and they see and hear the living and they
know from their observations of events and situations that they can
relay to a person who opens themselves up to demon activity to
deceive those who believe they are speaking for their dead loved ones.

Stay away from this sort of abomination to God if you want to
keep yourself from all kinds of troubles and demonic activity.

Pray for your ex boyfriend but do not get involved with his
detour from God's will and his trip into demonic activity.

I would challenge him to read the scriptures we've presented to you. Think about it - if you were in deception (and a person in deception by its very nature doesn't know they are deceived), wouldn't you want someone to at least present the truth to you?

Your friend needs to follow Jesus and not a man. Read 2nd Thessalonians 2 some time pertaining to the anti-christ coming with "all lying signs and wonders". Following after these wonders will be the undoing (the eternal undoing) of millions upon millions of people, whose gospel is "Seeing is believeing!"

You need to tell him the truth out of love and concern. If he rejects what you say, it is not you that he is rejecting - but God. As long as he will hear you, warn him.

What I wonder about people who seek dead messages is WHY???
God is a God of the living not of the dead. Why would someone spend their weekly time to seek messages from the dead.
I really urge you to pray for yourself, and this person as well for the Lord to break this bondage in their life.
Follow the Holy Spirit's leading, and don't allow yourself be influenced by the enemy.
Goodluck and protect yourself if it gets to the point where you have to put a distant between you and anyone who would cause you to stumble.

I agree with everyone else. Run far away. My grandmother whos Catcholic is into te leave reading, psychics and all that to get answers to things. My dad nicely talked to her about it but she did not want to it. >.<

As for the dead. Christians she rejoice in the fact someone is in heaven and no on earth. While we cry for them, they cry for us because we are stuck here lol. I mean that light heartedly of course.

I would sit down with him and show him the scriptures. Tell him in a non-judgmenting way why this friend of his is in the wrong. Tell him about what Jesus has done for you and those around you. Nothing is more powerful that a personal testimony on the power of Jesus Christ.

I dabbled in Wicca long before I got smart and got saved. I can tell you first hand, what was posted previously about Contacting the dead is demons in disguise is absolutely true. In Wicca, I did that many times, and none with good outcomes. I thank my Lord and Savior every chance I get for getting me out of that mess and into the family of God!

This is simple, you make a pact with a demon and it will do as you wish, however if you break that pact that demon will get mad, that is where demon possession hauntings can come into play.

The women is contacting demons that followed the deceased and now pretends to be the spirit of that dead person.

Amen to that. We knew a former couple that were a witch and warlock. They became christian and said the things they seen were horrifying not to mention when trying to become christian they literally fought a spiritual battle. The wife said she felt like demons were trying to attack her because they did not like her turning away from them.

She said people would ask her how she would also do her "psychic" powers. She said what you did, she talked to demons, not the dead. She said it was one of the devils tools to draw people away from God. Make them think people could really talk to the dead.

What I find very sad though is more christian don't believe that witches and warlocks really exist nor that they have any real power. Where we used to live there was a house behind us that held a coven of witches. Often the police would be called because the houses garage had decapitated chicken heads, blood and pentegrams on the floor. >.<
