• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

gulity...justice has been served?...he will spend the rest of his life in prison where he belongs but...what about his wife? isn't she just as gulity as he is? what about the victims?...it takes a long time to heal...to forgive...but they will never forget.

the victims will always remember what this monster did to them. there is no money in the world that can "fix" this...my question is why?

the bible says..."He who justifes the wicked, and he who condemns the just, both of them a like are an abonination to the LORD." proverbs 17:15

isn't that what the coach joe paterno did? the wife? or what about priest william lynn? the pope?...my very own mother...in my opinion keeping silence is a sin because there wouldn't have been others molested.

justice was served...but the healing, shame, and betrayal still remains.

Makeitwork- yes, I believe the wife is just as guilty, even though she claimed innocence and 'never heard,' even though some happened at their house when she was home. About the victims- yes, it may take a long time and something they carry, but I hope that they find healing somewhat in his incarceration. I'm so glad that the media kept their identities secret. The judge wanted to release all their names, and possibly traumitize the victims again, but the media kept them anonymous. I pray that they all draw near to God in all of this.. though it may be a long journey (as with all of us with abuse in our pasts/present have.)

One victim said that he never told his girlfriend/wife, and denied it when she asked. It was only when he saw Sandusky in person that she realized the creepy attraction Sandusky had for him and she was convinced. Some never told anyone. My heart just absolutely breaks for them.

This is a good question!!

Yes. Paterno admitted that he should have done more, and should have gone further with prosecution than what he did. But, yes, you're right. (I'm sooo sorry that you have personal experience with this.)

You're absolutely right.

I'm so glad that they convicted him... a lot of people were trying to paint the pictures of the victims as liars. One more victim came forward at the end. 45 out of 48 convictions is great. More than I expected.

Did my comments help?

yes thanks for your comments.

this hit home for me because i don't get the support i so desperately want from my mother and siblings.

when i was molested my mother never told my father or confronted her sister son...literally it was swept under the rug.

but as an adult i am finally defending myself...and i am the outcast. recently my mother said...makeitwork what do you want to do ruin your cousin life? call the police? hes married and has kids. your letting him win by not going to parties.

could you imagine going to a party where your nephew molested your child and you shake his hand and give him a hug and kiss right in front of your child?

or what if you invited the molester to your house and parties knowing what he did to your child?

what if your spouse dies and you say to your child your cousin (the one that molested your child) i want him to be the pallbearer but don't think that i don't love you. meanwhile your child is begging you not to do this, but you do it anyway.

all of these years and i still don't have support.
