In exodus Moses writes to his people that we should not boil a kid in its mothers milk. Kid as in goatchild. My question is if it is ok to boil other meat in milk such as cow or lamb? The tradition of cooking never boil any meat in milk except parhaps chicken! But if we read the clause once more it only adressess kids, goat children...

What's your opinion?

It is just an aspect of the Kosher law. Jews were not supposed to eat dairy products with meat.

It's an Old Testament dietary law for the Jews and is not applicable today (at least not for Christians).

There were strict rules in the Mosaic law for slaughtering animals for consumption. The kid was not boiled alive.

Can't imagine why you'd want to, but you can cook anything in anything.

I'd say it is appliable even to this day... we don't make void of the law of moses. I don't boil any meat in milk, but my mother used to mix cream into minced meat we ate with spagetti. But reading the clause litterary, we don't boil kids in its mothers milk. it doesn't say calf or lamb - it says kids..

And for the cheff. I don't know any restaurant or proffessional cooker that boil meat in milk. I have never ever seen it on any menu. Some people argue that eggs of trikinas don't die when it is boiled in milk. But i don't know for sure!?!
