From: May Global PMI - Business Insider

We are in the middle of the busiest 48 hours in the history of economics. And ahead of tomorrow's big US employment situation report, we're getting tons of leading economic data from all over the world.
...
from Markit said:
PMIs are based on monthly surveys of carefully selected companies. These provide an advance indication of what is really happening in the private sector economy by tracking variables such as output, new orders, stock levels, employment and prices across the manufacturing, construction, retail and service sectors.

The PMI surveys are based on fact, not opinion, and are among the first indicators of economic conditions published each month. The data are collected using identical methods in all countries so that international comparisons may be made.
So far, the first half dozen major PMI reports are all down:
Netherlands: NEVI Manufacturing PMI
South Korea: HSBC Manufacturing PMI
China: Official PMI
Taiwan: HSBC Manufacturing PMI
Vietnam: HSBC PMI
China: HSBC Manufacturing PMI
Indonesia: HSBC Manufacturing PMI

Waiting to hear how Obama is responsible. Perhaps Mitt and Bain should go out and take over these companies in the name of job creation.

LOL ... A pre-emptive defensive response ...

Thanks, SOAD, it's good you notice Obama is linked to all economic news.

I haven't created any of these problems so I have no reason to be defensive. I was simply wondering when you or some other Obama opposer would blame him.

There's a certain ironic poetic justice in it, isn't there ... LOL.

The irony is that Obama told his supporters he was gonna make everything better, yet now that Obama's turn is up, his supporters are realizing that things aren't any better now than they were under Bush. What goes around, comes around. ^_^

There's a moral or two to be found in there ...

Unemployment will remain high for many years, regardless of who's in power. Tech advances, increased corporate power , and the global village have made huge numbers of jobs obsolete or worth far less than they were. Any president who claims they can change this is either lying or uninformed.

It's way beyond a president's ability to "fix"

Hi, Ulu.

Yet, some would say that the more a president tries to control the economy, the worse that economy will get. There's something about one person's view being much less beneficial to the market that the market's combined perspective.

The economy is dynamic. People's needs change. What people produce changes as well. Sometimes that means people need to change what they produce. I've had to change jobs several times for that reason.

In fact, changing needs is a major factor in the economic cycle. The good news is that people always have needs ... so there's little reason for many people to be unproductive.

What is funny to me is that you and many others like you believe that Obama supporters are an especially gullible and naive lot, when in reality this is just not the case. People want to believe that the promises made by politicians will be fulfilled, unfortunately most politicians are able to follow through. The attempt by the right to make Obama into a god has not worked.

LOL ... the "attempt by the right"?

You're kidding me right, SOAD?

Nobel peace prize?

Fundamental transformation?

Hope and change, and a number of others ... how much of this stuff came from the "right", SOAD?

I agree with that. My point is that the economy/employment situation is so far gone that no pres is going to significantly be able to make it better.

The hatred both parties now have for each other far eclipses either's desire to work together for the good of the country.

Kipling tried to warn us.

"Take up the White Man's burden --
The savage wars of peace --
Fill full the mouth of Famine
And bid the sickness cease;
And when your goal is nearest
The end for others sought,
Watch Sloth and heathen Folly
Bring all your hope to nought."

-from Rudyard Kiplings's, " The White Man's Burden".
