First time I've ever seen envy toward a trip to Lebanon? Syria looks like a real hoot to visit also!

Um, Lebanon is one of the stablest countries in the region, and Beirut is a significant tourist destination... You do know that, right? I don't really know how to take your claim that you've never heard this before. Lebanon may not be Hawaii or Mexico, but it is certainly up there.

Indeed! It'ss a beautiful country. I travelled around, visiting Tyre, Sidon, Byblos, the jietta caverns under the mountains and of course Beirut itself. I loved it there! And the people were friendly! And I can say I've visited the promised land now

Just wanted to say thanks for all the replies! My friend got me a service book in English so I could join in!

I actuall enjoyed the services although it took a whie getting used to the different church culture.

Btw for those interested it was the liturgy of st basil that was used until Easter Sunday.

I enjoyed Palm sunday. The minister gave a short but Christ centred message about not just worshipping with our mouths but with our hearts before giveing out olive branches representing victory and we processed through the streets.

I think I got alot out from it. Most of the liturgy I had no objection to as a protestant. Seeing many visual displays I think does keep things in your mind more, like passing under the sepulchre to represent going from the new covenant to the new through Christ's death

I also thought some of the liturgy was very powerful and beautiful and becuase it was sung excessivley slow and repeated re reading it several times does get the imagery into your head. There was a lot of reading of psalms and bible texts in the services which I liked. I enjoyed my first experience of byzantine worship :)

So I had a wonderful Easter and wishing you guys a happy Easter whether it's passed for you or about yet to be celebrated
