Apart from the imposed silence by certain sections of this board on talking about homosexuality, the Roman Catholic Church in Australia is trying to get its members to oppose a forthcoming same sex marriage bill in the state of Victoria while in Petersburg a law has been passed that serves to discriminate against homosexuality.

Add to this the appalling treatment handed out to homosexuals in Islamic countries and the ravings of the Christian fundamentalists I can under why no one wants anything to do with religion.

Perhaps we should outlaw religion.

Wait, they don't already have homosexual civil marriage in Australia? That's rather shocking.

"Perhaps we should outlaw religion."

Well, it seems that science is forcing us to revise our understanding of this issue. The cornerstone scripture of the fundamentalist belief of this subject has been thrown under the scientific light for all to see. There are even 'pillars of salt' around the Dead Sea where the writer of Genesis may have saw one that resembled the physique of a human.

I guess I don't see this as an example of science "forcing us to revise our understanding".

The natural occurance of pillars of salt around the Dead Sea is an observation that's led to some speculation...but it doesn't prove anything at all.

We in the States have Discrimination laws but not to much law supporting Gay marriage. Like one, two maybe three States allow Gay marriage, the majority do not. And too here, the RCC and others are active in opposing pro Gay marriage law.

Seriously, I don't see any comparison of how Islamic Countries deal with Gay's and how people of Australia deal with Gay's.

Perhaps we should outlaw religion.
Yes, I see your frustration, but it isn't just religion. Your citizens have a right to express their core values in use of the ballot/protest. Maybe we should outlaw civilizations, it's so unnecessary. just a thought

Homosexuality should be discriminated against, just like other forms of sexual immorality, murder, theft, racism, laziness, etc. Glad to hear the RCC isn't bowing down to liberalism.

When did Christ ever give the commandment to "discriminate" or morally judge another person?

I'm pretty sure he said something about love and effecting change through understanding, dialogue, and more love. Discrimination and persecution sure seems contrary to that idea.

He didn't. But the Bible has plenty to say about what God thinks of homosexuality: 1Cor 6: 9,10; Rom 1: 26,27; 1Tim 1: 10; Lev 18: 22, 29, 30.

Rev, I understand your point though I do disagree with the theme of it. But that is another discussion entirely. What I am speaking about is the condemnation of homosexuals by Christians.

We can be intolerant of sin, but we must be careful not to be intolerant of the sinner.

I would agree. Many, if not most, Christians don't seem to understand this and vent their disdain on the individual rather than the sin.

Matthew 7:6:Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.

Matthew 15:26:But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it to dogs.

That's called discrimination.....

The Bible gives a VERY dim view of homosexuals. Notice the crowd included with homosexuals.

1 Corinthians 6:9-10 (NASB)
9 Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, 10 nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God.

Deuteronomy 23:17:There shall be no harlot of the daughters of Israel, nor a sodomite of the sons of Israel.

1 Kings 14:24:And there were also sodomites in the land: and they did according to all the abominations of the nations which the LORD cast out before the children of Israel.

1 Kings 15:12:And he took away the sodomites out of the land, and removed all the idols that his fathers had made.

1 Kings 22:46:And the remnant of the sodomites, which remained in the days of his father Asa, he took out of the land.

2 Kings 23:7:And he brake down the houses of the sodomites, that were by the house of the LORD, where the women wove hangings for the grove.

There were once laws against homosexuality(Sodomy) in early America.

It Just shows how the world has fallen away from Christianity....

That's nice. You did notice that the verse ends without including anything like "And discriminate against the aforementioned and make sure they are second-class citizens in whatever nation you live in," right?

Yes, social progression, praise Jesus!

And if some people think that is falling away from Christ, well, I can live with that.

Fornicators are folks who intermix?

Find that hard to believe?

Hebrews 12:16:Lest there be any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright.

Esau married Canaanite wives.

This is intermarriage, fornication.

Early America had laws against miscegenation.
