So what's your one button issue? What one irritates you the most from others?

each denomination tends to have their one trick pony that they ride to death.

On here, the ones I've seen most are (in no order, and not sorted by denomination)

Eating Pork is bad.
You must worship on Saturdays
Rome is the devil
Anthing not of rome is the devil
the one true church argument
mariolatry
bibleolatry
sola scriptura

to name many others.

so.... which is your button.... and which makes you cringe the most?

To be honest I'm fine with most theology within orthodox Christianity (I'll define that roughly as within a Chalcedonian Christology and accepting the Apostle's Creed?). No specific theology I dislike or abhor I suppose? Well I'll admit, I do get a bit weirded out by some RCC Mary beliefs... but It's not like I'm think people are heretics or anything.

I do get really ticked off whenever people misrepresent Calvinism, or when they say that "The God of Calvinism is a evil dictator/sadist/etc..." I also get annoyed whenever people think that by attacking Calvin somehow undermines the theology of Calvinism. I put no faith in Calvin; my faith is in Christ and His word. I don't believe in Calvinist theology because of Calvin...

that's one I've forgotten. The exchange between Calvinist and non Calvinist can get pretty bitter in both directions, can't it?

If you don't believe that every christian's claim of sign and wonders, "God said this to me" messages are automatically from God then you're quenching the Spirit/judgemental/worship the bible not God etc etc ....

Right the whole "God told me to tell you X"

and when we raise an eyebrow, we're faithless heathens. Good one!

Believers who hear voices in their heads claiming it to be God talking to them.

Sure. How about dealing with the Word we already have?

Revelation 10:4 Now when the seven thunders uttered their voices, I was about to write;
but I heard a voice from heaven saying to me "seal up the things which the seven thunders uttered and do not write them."

I have heard that is common among Schizophenics [I know a dear friend that suffers from that condition].

There is an interesting thread on that over here:

hpw do discern the holy spirit from the other voices in my head?

I have been a christian in the past, and left the church (spiritually speaking) when I could no longer tell the holy spirit from other things in my mind.
I honestly believe that many things I once thought were the holy spirit were actually other people or simply voices in my head.

Aside from the standard bible verses, can someone give me a more concrete way that they KNOW something is from the holy spirit?

Thanks in advance.
