Why did the people who operated the King's Tavern take one of the few good messageboards on the net and run it into the ground?

What was once a place populated by decent people is now just another pit of hissing, venomous fundamentalist (cuss word), spitting poison and lies at everyone and everything that doesn't have a Southern Baptist stink to it.

This is depressing. Further proof that decent people and fundamentalists will never be able to co-exist.

Because before the merger the King's Tavern was a good board with a friendly, intelligent, decent populace. Now this is just another Fundamentalist-encrusted pit, spreading the Fundie Gospel of Hate and Hellfire.

Fundamentalism is a cancer that destroys everything it touches. No board that has tried to mix decent people and Fundies has survived. It's sad to see the King's Tavern ally itself with the forces of evil.

If you've never suffered the vilification at the hands of other professed "Christians," it's difficult to understand why Catholics would be interested in a separate forum. Yes, indeed, we are all Children of God through Christ Jesus, but many, many, MANY Protestant denominations feel compelled to "show" Catholics the errors of their ways, in order to save them from Hell.

One of the painful things is being beat over the head to the point of bleeding by what Kirk calls "Fundies" with a Bible....the very same Bible that the Catholic Church GAVE Christianity.

A place of respite gives us somewhere to go to lick our wounds.

Peace be with you,

Well, then, put me on your Buddy List, and pop in on me every now and again! You were the one who threw me a lifeline from TBTSNBM, to the Pizza Parlor, and I think I fell into some wormhole and ended up at The King's Table.

If it hadn't been for you, I'd probably be roadkill at TBTSNBM.

Peace be with you,

Kirk I think you will find hate and bigotry no matter where you go, and I don't like fundamentalism any further than I can throw Jerry Falwell myself, so I know how you feel. If you looked up the word "fundamentalism" in Webster's, their definition obviously conflicts with what being a fundy really is. And while I know how you feel about Southern Baptists also, I assure you if I met you in person one day, I would not fit that mold. :)

In reality we shouldn't be a denomination before we are Christians anyways. Denominationalism and fundamentalism have both been the bane of Christianity's existence. I go to an SBC church sure, but we don't play their vicious politics nor do I agree with James Merritt's (SBC president) statement, "nobody loves Jesus more than Southern Baptists".

I am all for equal legal rights to everyone no matter what they believe even if I should happen to disagree. God did not make us as robots He gave us free will so if He does it why shouldn't we, am I not correct? That whole thing between the SBC and Disney was vulgar as well I agree. So was Pat Robertson when he hoped tornadoes would hit Disneyworld on Gay and Lesbian weekend I think it is called. If you disagree with another group of people that's one thing, but to hope they die in a disaster is just.....unchristian. I also did not like what he and Falwell said about 9/11.

While I don't think the Tavern intentionally desired to align itself with the hatemongers of the internet world nor did Christian Forums, I agree that fundy-ism is a worse cancer than anything else in Christendom. I know God did not intend that. Satan did.

It's always good to get away from TBTSNBN, or anywhere else dominated by fundamentalists. It's horribly sad how the Parlor turned out, the way they let a bigot like Michie run roughshod, spraying anti-gay, anti-Islam, anti-whatever propaganda all over the board.

That was a good place. I really cared about it. I can't believe what the morons who run it let it turn into. And now look, we're all set up for the same thing to happen here.

Kirkland1244....

I don't enjoy being called names. I've never met you, and you don't know anything about me. I am a Southern Baptist, so anything disparaging you say about Southern Baptists in general is also directed at me individually. Calling ALL Southern Baptists "hissing, venomous fundamentalist bigots" is the same thing as someone saying "all Catholics go to Hell". I don't appreciate being criticized for something I don't do.

I am not familiar with anyone named Michie nor any other board except the old KT so I will take your word on it. Are we set up for an implosion here? I can't say that at present I'll wait and see. And Kirk I think if this is your final decision to never come here again, you're doing the right thing. You and I aren't exactly best friends since the other thread on the Round Table, but I would want to see you live with peace in your heart and not to worry about a message board. Life is so much more than that. God be with you good sir.

Joe,

I've been to the official SBC website, and have read statements to the effect that "all Catholics are going to Hell."

I appreciate your indignation with Kirk, he does get "feisty" against Fundamentalism. But the track record of the Southern Baptist Church against Catholicism is not pretty. Did you know there is a specific MISSION for Baptists to "rescue" Catholics from the harlot of Babylon?

I'd think twice before aligning with such a school of thought.

Peace be with you,

I agree humblejoe, but Kirk has had some horrible run-ins in the past. You may not agree with how he feels nor do I, but I understand where he comes from. Him and I had quite an exchange this past weekend, but do I hold ill will? Nope. I want him to find peace in his heart and live life.

Dear VOW,

I have read the SBC website, but long ago, so if you wouldn't mind showing me what you talk about, I'd appreciate it. :)

As I said in a prior post while I do attend an SBC church, you wouldn't know it. I don't like Jack Chick, I hate KJV-only idolatry, I love Disney, an aunt and uncle are Catholic, and Bob Jones is a tool of satan. I know Catholics and Protestants disagree, but I wanna see you and Kirk and Wols and KC and others in heaven one day. Doctrines and denominations won't exist or matter then.
God bless you and thanks for being nice to me here! ;)

Only with bigots, be they anti-Catholic, anti-gay, anti-Islam, whatever. Non-bigots I have no problem with. But I will never allow bigots to walk by me unscathed.

If you tithe at your church you support the evil machinations of the Southern Baptist Convention. Dues and monies flow up and then out to support their bigotted programs to spread lies about other religions, to proselytize and otherwise pester Catholics and other decent people and to attack companies that have the (gasp! no!) gall to treat their gay employees equally to their straight ones.

VOW, I'd like to see an SBC link stating, verbatim, "all Catholics go to Hell".

Well, I tell ya...

I probably wouldn't be able to find the verbatim statement, "All Catholics go to Hell."

But

I DO know the SBC has a special ministry JUST for Catholics, believing them in need of salvation. In my book, that IMPLIES Catholics are going to Hell.

I'm going to look for the website for PrinceJeff.

Peace be with you,
