The Ark of the Covenant is somewhere in Ethiopia... In Orthodox hands! The problem is that there are thousands of Ethiopian churches that claim having the ark of the covenant so no one knows for sure.

Shared some of the same things before (here and here ), as it concerns Ethopia having the ark. Although even if it cannot be found due to not having 100% certainty, there is at least alot of good reasons as to suspect that it's within that group....but even if it was there, what would one do once they found it?

I think you're thinking of the Holy Grail in the cave-in scene :p

I wonder if the Shankara stones are in Orthodox hands? :p Or how about the Nirhachi?

Didn't it blow up at the end of the first Indiana Jones movie?

I was told and I can't remember by whom, that indeed the Ark of the Covenant has been in the hands of the Ethiopian Orthodox since the beginning when they became Christians. That area had a high population of Jews at the time who became Christians....Alexandria and the like.

Strange thing - the Ark is supposedly extremely dangerous to be around. Monk guardians do not survive beyond three years being in close proximity to it.
Strange you can recieve Communion without being blasted to bits (well - in most cases anyway) and yet the Ark is simply lethal regardless of who's keeping it.

They have also discovered that thick cataracts have also built up over their eyes.

The one being safeguarded by the monk is the actual Ark of the Covenant, with every Ethiopian Orthodox Church having a replica of the Ark back where the altar is.

I think the monk who is assigned is usually quite old. Also, he lives in tent. Finally, painless and peaceful death is not necessarily a curse. It could be a blessing that God hastened his coming home. Who knows.

It could be, but that just make any sense to me, in part for the reasons you laid out.

But, I will say that I believe it's there. I could be wrong. No idea. But I have no real reason to doubt it.

Wrong group of Orthodox. Ethiopian church is not in communion with Constantiople and is considered part of the group of Churches that separated after the Council of Chalcedon and are considered Oriental Orthodox.

Also the other problem with this is that it contradicts 2 Mac 2: [4] It was also contained in the same writing, how the prophet, being warned by God, commanded that the tabernacle and the ark should accompany him, till he came forth to the mountain where Moses went up, and saw the inheritance of God. [5] And when Jeremias came thither he found a hollow cave: and he carried in thither the tabernacle, and the ark, and the altar of incense, and so stopped the door. [6] Then some of them that followed him, came up to mark the place: but they could not find it. [7] And when Jeremias perceived it, he blamed them, saying: The place shall be unknown, till God gather together the congregation of the people, and receive them to mercy. [8] And then the Lord will shew these things, and the majesty of the Lord shall appear, and there shall be a cloud as it was also shewed to Moses, and he shewed it when Solomon prayed that the place might be sanctified to the great God.

I have no doubt that they believe that they have the true Ark, but I just don't see how this can be unless somewhere along the line that cave opened and allowed the ark to be removed.

Didn't the Prophet Joseph Smith get his hands on the ark and have Brigham Young hide it deep in the deserts of Utah with the urrum, thumum, and the gold plates? ^_^

yeah, he hid them all in his hat.

but seriously, I think I heard somewhere that in the area where the Ark is supposedly kept, the monk who watched over it did not purify himself or something, and died when he stepped inside a while back.

Methinks this sort of story is purely apocryphal. To 'prove' to the faithful and the skeptics that it is the real deal.

definitely could be, I guess I'll have to ask an Ethiopian Orthodox Christian.
