Well, hello friends. I am a newby, so please be kind if I posted on the wrong section.
I have a hard time even navigating around here.
My name is Nikolaos, though people call me Nikos or Nick for short.
I love drawing, sculpting miniatures, desighing comics, illustrating, reading folklore and writing fairytales.
I am greek and as expected Greek Orthodox. Though I must admit, I wasn't always a serious believer.
Up until a few years ago, I was pretty much indifferent towards our Faith.
I respected it of course, as a statute that binds the sociaty together,
but I never bothered examining the Bible, let alone the Orthodox beliefs.
All that changed just a few years ago (2 or 3, I can't remember).
Back at highschool, there were a lot of atheists who really did manage to shake my faith. I decided I could no longer take these things for granted and thus, I started a philosophical research, to see whether or not God exists.
After a year of a long, philosophical debate with myself, I decided that, from the way I percieve the World, there is definetely some short of "creator" who guides the evolution of this Universe. Next step was to read the New Tastement and see if it could really convince me that it was the Word of God.
I must admit that before I opened the book, I was sure I would reject it as antiquated nonsense. I was wrong. In fact I read the whole thing in a few hours.
Even now I consider it one of the most beautiful books I've ever read. Whether as a non-literal poem, or a literal record, it was beautiful, and really touched my heart. How could such a masterpiece be the work of frauds? And why would both Jesus and the Apostoles choose to die rather than reject their preachings if they were not the Truth? Has any other founder of any religion died like this?
Thus I was convinced, and up to this day I am proud to announce that I was blessed indeed to be born in an Orthodox country.
PS; My life's moto can be read in my signature.
