Me?

You’re St. Jerome!
You’re a passionate Christian, fiercely devoted to Jesus Christ and his Church. You are willing to labor long hours in the Lord’s vineyard, and you have little patience with those who are less willing or able to work as you do. Your passions often carry you into temptation zones of wrath, lust, and pride.

You're St. Melito of Sardis!

You have a great love of history and liturgy. You're attached to the traditions of the ancients, yet you recognize that the old world -- great as it was -- is passing away. You are loyal to the customs of your family, though you do not hesitate to call family members to account for their sins.

Such a cool find Michie! I haven't heard of St. Melito before, he sounds awesome. Should find out more about him.

I'm St Justin Martyr .

A positive and hopeful attitude to the world .

Think nature , history , and pagan philosophy were often guided by God in preparation for the coming of Jesus .

Find seeds of the word in unexpected places .

Patient and willing to explain the faith to unbelievers .

:o If only .

It reminds me of a similar task I carried out at a job review workshop . I marked all the things on the questionnaire and ended up being told that I would make a good Welfare Rights Officer . That quite pleased me .

Then I did it again , but this time I just changed one answer , and ended up being told by the computer that I would make good car park attendant .

Looks like I'm like the 5th St. Melito of Sardis.

You are Origen!
You do nothing by half-measures. If you’re going to read the Bible, you want to read it in the original languages. If you’re going to teach, you’re going to reach as many souls as possible, through a proliferation of lectures and books. If you’re a guy and you’re going to fight for purity … well, you’d better hide the kitchen shears.

You’re Tertullian!
You possess many gifts, but patience isn’t one of them. You’re tough on yourself — and on others. You’re independent, too, and you don’t like to be told what to do. You wish the Church would be a little tighter in discipline. As for the pagans, you’ve pretty much written them off. Sometimes you think the Church would be a better place if you were in charge.

I've read some of Tertullian's work and I liked it (he had a sense of humor, too), and he ended as a heretic which suits me too. I am patient though, not by nature but after much practice.

Some of his work was declared heretical and he kind of went crazy toward the end of his career. He and Tertullian are both ECF's but their later works are rejected.

I always thought Origen was simply deposed because of his irregular ordination, not because of his teachings.

Coincidently, I got Origen!

For those who don't know...Origen castrated himself.

St Justin Martyr. Aside from the bit about being patient or willing to explain the Faith (or anything), I think it's fairly accurate. The last time I took this, I think I got St Jerome.

I think i did too. I am certain i did... but not 100% sure i got St Jerome.

Now i got St Melito who seems rather popular.

He also didnt make Sainthood because he had some questionable ideas. Thats not to say - he didnt make some great writings or observations prior.

Origen a heretic? Since when?

Origen was formally considered a heretic - but we have nothing on him after that event. He had some unorthodox observations that souls pre existed and that perhaps [tho he did only give a hypothesis] that all would be reunited to God including satan - and hence some idea were not really considered.
Him also seeing the Son of God subordinate to God the Father had its moment too in the Arian controversy.
