Ya -- I know it doesn't; but when you buy into the nomenclature, you will soon find yourself caught up into the whole philosophy.

After all, 'wise man' sounds harmless, doesn't it? even sounds like a compliment.

Then the next thing you know, you're on the road to atheism.

It is a compliment, but not in the way you think. "Sapientia" is the ability to have insights. Linné thought that to be a good description of humans... and I agree. All humans are able have insight, even if some of them deny that vehemently.

That, to me, is blasphemy.

Humans are homo sapiens. That is the classification, and there is no way around it. They are as similar as water and Dihydrogen Monoxide.

Unless you're claiming that Genesis is wrong, and that God did not create humans, I'd think carefully about denying the work of God. That is blasphemy, although we'll happily welcome you to our camp if you choose to continue with it.

Yes, there is a way around it.

A shrewdness could rig a vote behind closed doors and pluto the term.

Like I say, it's all done on paper and software.

Nomenclature has existed since Linnaeus (a Christian, by the way) and before. Whether or not evolutionairy theory is true, it's simply a fact that there are various species on this planet and we - by the definition of species - are one of them.
Taxonomy is the discipline that classifies the bio-diversity into those species... and by this taxonomy you are a... homo sapiens.

That leaves the question of where all that bio-diversity came from, completely open.

Is your faith so weak as to feel threatened by the word "WISE"

It's not that my faith is weak, it's that my faith has a very strong adversary.

Jude 9 Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee.

A strong adversary is still a weak adversary when it comes to "TRUE FAITH"! My 300 Spartan ancestors had to fight an adversary so large as to mathematically make it impossible to win. They may have died but the Persians lost. Jesus was nailed to the cross and died a tortuous death; Does this mean that the Roman Empire was a strong adversary to Jesus? I think not. "WILL" is stronger than "MIGHT"!

Then I take it you can ascertain the answer to your question now?
Yes indeed but only if it were I asking myself. On the other hand I asked you because you betray a fear that in mine eyes is unjustifiable for one who is so strong in his convictions!

You forget that when God says it, that settles it.

That means that when people profess themselves to be 'wise men', it can (and has) lead to atheism.

You may not agree with the Homo-sapiens-to-atheism link; and you may not agree that cause-and-effect is in action here; but God says otherwise.

Brian Greene is a great communicator of science. He is up there with people like Michio Kaku and Neil DeGrasse Tyson

I'm not sure I know Kaku, but I agree with you about Tyson. There is also Brian Cox ... I especially like Do You Know What Time It Is?

With respect to the video you posted, they rushed past 2 of the issues I'm most interested in. First, given that physicists really no longer see space as empty, what does that say about ether theories and the Michelson-Morley experiment? Is is possible to say all the stuff in space is not a medium for light?

Even moreso, I've started to think that we've missed the point entirely. I've got almost this Eleatic sense that maybe what we're missing is that "unchanging" does not equate to "static." Maybe the fixed reference of reality is the motion of light so that everything is always moving at the speed of light and any "change" we perceive is actually a tradeoff between the dimension of time and the dimension of space. What I don't know is if that's what Einstein was saying all along with space-time and I just didn't fully get it until recently, or if that is different from what he was saying.

Anyway, the second issue I wanted to hear more about is dimension. They pretty quickly passed off space as 3D and moved on. It makes more sense to me to think of space as an infinite nothing without dimension. Saying it is 3D is merely a mathematical convenience and there may be some problems which are better suited to some other number of dimensions - not in an unseen sense, but in a very real sense.

Just some food for thought.
