The opposite is always true.

(Jer 17:9) The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?

Here is what we are supposed to do when our heart suggests something else exactly as in Jesus' case;

(Mat 4:4) But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

We are always to abide in the Word of God instead of what our heart suggests, which is Eternal Life

Yes. Simple faith and trust in the Word, the Lord.

how is faith different from your heart? is not faith obeying what is laid on your heart?

Not everything that is laid on my heart. Discernment is important.

ted, I appreciate that you have found me out. I am searching for Christ as best as I can, but my situation has been complicated by some decisions i made a couple years ago. I'm doing the best i can.

my motto is this, if you seek, you shall find. so if you seek the truth, then you WILL be able to discern what is laid on your heart. but if you seek a lie, then you will be decieved by what is in your wicked heart.

So if one seeks the truth they may not be deceived from time to time?

if one seeks the truth, and he IS decieved, he will not be decieved for long!

ultimatly, it is our conscience that tells us when we've done right or wrong.

shoot, i've been delaying a lot and meditating. what i do when i want to know the truth is, is I spend around 7 days meditating on what I've been confronted with, and i open my heart to God and i pray, and if I don't do what is right then it isn't becuase i wasn't seeking to do what is right!
