This morning was the last time I get to hear or serve the old mass. I have mixed feelings about this. For one, this is the mass I know and love; the one I learned as a new convert and embraced as a new Catholic. I thought it was as near to perfection as one could get. So, it's with some trepidation that I step into the New Year. I suppose this is like the other lifes, deaths and resurrections we experience in our daily lives and that soon enough I will be embracing the new life and the new mass that I have been given.

At any rate, I'm still a little sad about saying goodbye to an old friend.

Oh. I think that is a reason to rejoice.

I guess so. I hope the changes are embraced in the spirit they were intended. That would be a reason to rejoice. Maybe I'm being an old fuddy-duddy who doesn't like change. I mean, this is similar to why I haven't been to a TLM; it's not that I'm opposed to it, I just am too lazy to learn another form, especially after throwing my whole mind, body and heart into this one.

I guess the Canandian missal is staying the same?

the Canadian missal is changing too. I am personally happy about that because it would be more similar to the Latin, so more similar, not less, to the original text :) it would also be a better match to the text that other languages have, like French. It would take a bit of time to get used it though, as you said.

I think that once you witness the new translation, you will fall in love with it all over again. It is a closer translation of the Latin. I'm sure you will like it :)
