Recent past there was a thread on American women have more problems with depression etc.

I dont know the stats for other countries or the accident numbers...
But i have been reading on PTSD and how it affects Americans. Moreso women than men...

40% of all victims of nearly fatal accidents- [or losing some suddenly dear to them and or witnessing an accident OR being victimized and put into a helpless situation such as rape....or other like trauma have PTSD.

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD): Symptoms, Treatment and Self-Help

This is one of the webby's

Hoping this helps anyone who is suffering anxieties or something... if you can pinpoint the problem, you can work on the problem.

This is absolutely true for me. The fact that I survived the car accident and my Mom didn't lies at the root of my depression and contributes greatly to my alcoholism. The rape a couple of years later just made it worse.

My therapy seems to be going well, but holidays are particularly hard for me.

Wow...just wow. Having lost someone dear to you and something like THAT happened to you as well....

Others would just let that despair and darkness envelop them, but you?! People like you are who I consider "fighters."

I empathize with you, have been through similar things..

i get my therapy from Jesus by spending time w/ Him at the Blessed Sacrament. have you tried this? my PTSD is so bad that i would never be able to trust telling my issues/concerns to anyone but HIM (although some people in my life have heard some of it... )

often i wish i had told NO ONE about some of my concerns... makes me feel VERY lonely when i get the feeling they do NOT u/stand... and they don't... only God does

I tried all manner of things in dealing with my issues. I have done a couple of stints in rehab, and have spent lots of time with various clergy members. I finally realized that I was just not going be able to tough it out on my own.

I see my therapist every other Tuesday, and I am making progress getting down to the roots of my issues. I still drink too much, and I am sad quite a lot, but I am doing better.

So far, there isn't a light at the end of my tunnel, but now I see a tunnel rather than just a dark cave with no way out.

I lost my dad suddenly.
I lost a nephew to a car wreck and then i had a wreck on black ice that i was seconds away from death.

I know why i have issues with being a car on a highway. Now i have to figure out to fix it. Going over 55 mph makes me panic. So i know i have to start some sort of therapy. I take adavint for now to get thru traveling... but i think therapy would help.
