Yo Ed,
You make some interesting points.

First, there is NO Biblical PROOF that Jesus was the Word BEFORE Jesus was born.

But don't we have biblical proof that Jesus was the rock that the water came from in the desert?

Isaiah 48:21
They did not thirst when he led them through the deserts; he made water flow for them from the rock; he split the rock and water gushed out.

1 Corinthians 10:4
and drank the same spiritual drink; for they drank from the spiritual rock that accompanied them, and that rock was Christ.

So would this be proof that Jesus existed befor he was born?

NO, this does NOT prove that Jesus existed BEFORE he was born. The rock from which the Isrelites drank water was literally a rock which Moses struck with his rod.

The "spiritual drink" they drank are the WORDS of God and the "spiritual rock" that accompanied them was God - NOT Jesus. Christ is the name of God that God GAVE to Jesus (Acts 2:36; Phi. 2:9; John 17:11 TEV).

What about John 1:1 ?

[1] In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
[2] The same was in the beginning with God.
[3] All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

The word was sent to earth in the flesh. Must be Jesus.

You said, "must be Jesus." This prroves that you are NOT sure that the WORD that BECAME Jesus is Jesus himself. And I can't blame you because the Bible does NOT teach that Jesus was the WORD of God BEFORE he was born.

Think about this GTX, children of God (you and me) are HEIRS and JOINT-HEIRS with Christ (Rom. 8:17) according to God's PROMISE to Abraham (Gal. 3:16; cf. Gen. 17:7 cf. Gal. 3:16).

IF Christ is God, why does he NEED to inherit God's PROMISE to Abraham and his SEED, "....to be God unto thee and thy SEED after thee." The SEED referred to here is Christ (Gal. 3:16).

IF Christ is God, why does he NEED to be JOINT-HEIR (Rom. 8:17) ".....according to the HOPE of eternal life" (Titus 3:7)?
