Ha Sukkah David and the Davidic Covenant
The Tent of David
If Torah instructs us to offer upon the altar or we are guilty of murder, how did David justify offering within his Sukkah as opposed to the Tent of Moshe? Could he have been given a 'new' covenant?

2 Sam 6:17
They brought the ark of the Lord and set it in its place inside the tent David had set up for it. Then David offered burnt offerings and fellowship offerings in the Lord's presence.

1Ch 15:1
David built houses for himself in the city of David, and he prepared a place for the ark of God and pitched a tent for it.
1Ch 16:1
They brought the ark of God and placed it inside the tent David had pitched for it. Then they offered burnt offerings and fellowship offerings in God's presence.
1Ch 17:1
When David had settled into his palace, he said to Nathan the prophet, "Look! I am living in a cedar house while the ark of the Lord's covenant is under tent curtains."
2Ch 1:4 -
Now, David had brought the ark of God from Kiriath-jearim to the place he had set up for it, because he had pitched a tent for it in Jerusalem,
Isa 16:5
Then in the tent of David
a throne will be established by faithful love.
A judge who seeks what is right
and is quick to execute justice
will sit on the throne forever.

Ac 15:16
After these things I will return and will rebuild David's tent, which has fallen down. I will rebuild its ruins and will set it up again,
Ps 89:3
[The Lord said,]
";I have made a covenant with My chosen one;
I have sworn an oath to David My servant:

Isa 55:3
Pay attention and come to Me;
listen, so that you will live.
I will make an everlasting covenant with you,
the promises assured to David.

Acts 13:34
Since He raised Him from the dead, never to return to decay, He has spoken in this way, I will grant you the faithful covenant blessings made to David.

Jer 3
14 "Return, you faithless children" -[this is] the Lord's declaration-"for I am your master, and I will take you, one from a city and two from a family, and I will bring you to Zion. 15 I will give you shepherds who are loyal to Me, and they will shepherd you with knowledge and skill. 16 When you multiply and increase in the land, in those days"-the Lord's declaration-"no one will say any longer: The ark of the Lord's covenant. It will never come to mind, and no one will remember or miss it. It will never again be made. 17 At that time Jerusalem will be called, The Lord's Throne, and all the nations will be gathered to it, to the name of the Lord in Jerusalem. They will cease to follow the stubbornness of their evil hearts. 18 In those days the house of Judah will join with the house of Israel, and they will come together from the land of the north to the land I have given your ancestors to inherit."

The end from the beginning. When we return it will be the Lord’s doing. He will take us and bring us to Zion, and Jerusalem will be called The Lord’s Throne.

Yeshua has made the way for us to return, and says, “COME!” He says we know where he is going and to follow him.

This verse is already fulfilled as Yeshua stated, ‘Today as you heard me speak, these things are fulfilled.”

The new covenant is a reality, the fallen Sukkah of David is restored, the everlasting covenant made through DAVID is here.

Every Jew knows Torah was given to Moshe at Mt. Sinai. We know God gave Moshe all the instructions on how to interact with the presence of God. That he gave the 10 commandments and had us build an Ark to house them and his presence. Also how to build a Tent for it to be placed along with other objects God described for our intersession with His presence that resided within the Ark. The Lord walked ahead and lead the people day and night from his Ark by a pillar of smoke and fire. And before it priests offered the commanded sacrifices and offerings to the Lord.

This Ark was called ‘the ark of the covenant’ because it housed the very presence of God, which is the covenant he makes with us. That he will be our God and we will be his people. That he will live and sojourn among us, even within us.

But at this point his presence was kept within the ark of the covenant, and the Tent of Moshe. In other words, because the people would not let God dwell with them personally, God said it was good for them to have Moshe ‘intercede’ for them. So God moved into Moshe’s Tent. He would live all his days, in the ‘house’ of those who welcomed his presence.

But Yisrael could/would not keep the covenant made through Moshe. And even the Lord knew this would happen as testified by Moshe and the scores of prophets he would send them. They spoke of a time when they would pay for breaking the covenant and of a ‘new’ covenant he would make with them.

When they entered the promised land the Lord lead the ark to Shiloh, and it was there that the Tent of Moshe would stand and where the presence of our Lord would dwell. Shiloh was were the covenant would be enforced and observed. This was the times of the Judges, a time where Yisrael would break her promise she made to her husband, the Lord who has betrothed her.

Finally the day came where the people of Yisrael demanded they have a man as a king instead of God. The Lord told Shmuel to tell Yisrael what it would be like if they had their way, but they would not listen and continued to demand an earthly king. King Shaul was the outcome and would prove to be the first and last king to worship the presence of God from within the Tent of Moshe.

Shaul, without permission, took the ark of the covenant into battle against the Philistines. And lost it! Talk about loosing your fathers bible…. This among other things cost Shaul his kingship. David would be anointed and placed as King of Yisrael, and Shaul would face death.

The ark was in Philistine hands for only 7mo when they released it back into Yisrael. Yet it did not return to Shiloh, but would dwell among the people within certain individuals houses. The first looked within and suffered terribly. But the house of Kiryat-Ye'arim respected the Lord and it stayed for a long time. The ark of the covenant finally came to rest in the house of Obed-Edom, this is where David eventually came to get it.

During all this time the Tent in Shiloh was being served by the priests of Tzadok. But because of the division between David and Shaul, Avyatar had become the cohan for David.

When the ark was placed within the Tent of David Asaf was placed incharge of 24/7 worship, while Tzadok was serving in the Tent of Moshe. David’s tent did not have different courts. No Holy of Holies or veil to separate the cohanim from His presence. It was a great prophetic sign of the time to come.

“4 He appointed certain L'vi'im to serve in front of the ark of ADONAI, to celebrate, and to thank and praise ADONAI the God of Isra'el: 5 Asaf, the leader; assisting him, Z'kharyah; then Ye'i'el, Sh'miramot, Yechi'el, Mattityahu, Eli'av, B'nayahu, 'Oved-Edom and Ye'i'el playing lutes and lyres, while Asaf played cymbals. 6 B'nayah and Yachzi'el the cohanim blew the trumpets continually before the ark for the covenant of God…… So, there before the ark for the covenant of ADONAI, David left Asaf and his kinsmen to perform the service regularly before the ark, as each day's work required;” (1.Chronicles 16:4-6, 37)

David’s way of worship included every part of a person’s being – spirit, soul and body – and was done with all strength and might. You can see David’s forms of worship defined well within the Psalms. Spontaneity, exuberance, excitement, youthfulness, and celebration – all accompanied by body actions – characterize Davidic worship. Here are some examples within the Psalms; speaking (34:1), singing (47:1), shouting (27:6), lifting hands (63:4), playing instruments (33,2-3), clapping hands (47:1), standing (134:1), bowing down (95:6) and dancing (149:3).

"When that day comes, I will raise up the fallen sukkah of David. I will close up its gaps, raise up its ruins and rebuild it as it used to be, (Amos 9:11)

"After this, I will return; and I will rebuild the fallen tent of David. I will rebuild its ruins, I will restore it, so that the rest of mankind may seek the Lord, that is, all the Goyim who have been called by my name," (Acts 15:16-17)

Here in Acts 15 Ya’akov quotes Amos’ prophecy. God desired to re-established David’s order of worship which had ceased. David’s Tabernacle was a type of Messianic Community, who literally fulfilled (became) the Sukkah. The Word had come down and “tabernacled” among us (see John 1:14). Jews and Gentiles now had access to God in Messiah – which was the point Ya’akov wanted to make at the Council in Yerushalayim. Not that Gentiles now had access to the Tabernacle of Moshe, but that they had access to the rebuilt Sukkah of David.

What Kefa, Shaul, and BarNaba had seen the Lord do among the Goyim during their ministry was exactly what the Lord had said He would do, to build again the fallen Sukkah of David.

What for? So the remnant of Jews and all the Gentiles upon whom His Name is called might seek after the Lord. … The problem of what to do with the Goyim is solved. They do not have to come under circumcision, or under the Law, that is, the Tent of Moshe. They come into the Sukkah of David which has no Mosaic observances.”

Yeshua, the son of David, fulfilled the great vision David had – no more walls around the presence of God, thousands of cohanim worshiping Him day and night, in Spirit and truth, with singing and instruments, body, soul and spirit. Today we all have access to His presence through Yeshua, being friends of the Lord like David was, and even more. His Spirit now lives in us and enables us to worship and live His way.

David had made a radical move – building a new tent in a new place, not returning the ark to its previous place, but instituting a new order which foreshadowed the coming of Messiah and His community of believers. He was a forerunner and visionary, preparing the way for his son Shlomo to build a house for the Lord, where the plans for the new cohanim he had received from the Lord were put into practice easily, after 40 years of day-and-night worship in the Sukkah of David.

Come all who are thirsty and drink from the fountain of Life. The Sukkah of David has been restored!!! The covenant made with David is our promise!!!!

He raised Him from the dead, never to return to decay, He has spoken in this way,

I will grant you the faithful covenant blessings made to David. (Acts 13:34)

Isaiah 61:1-2 NAS Isaiah 61:1 The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, Because the LORD has anointed me To bring good news to the afflicted; He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to captives, And freedom to prisoners; 2 To proclaim the favorable year of the LORD,

Isaiah 40:9 9 Get yourself up on a high mountain, O Zion, bearer of good news, Lift up your voice mightily, O Jerusalem, bearer of good news; Lift it up, do not fear. Say to the cities of Judah, "Here is your God!"

Isaiah 41:27 - 42:9 27 "Formerly I said to Zion, 'Behold, here they are.' And to Jerusalem, 'I will give a messenger of good news.' 28 "But when I look, there is no one, And there is no counselor among them Who, if I ask, can give an answer. 29 "Behold, all of them are false; Their works are worthless, Their molten images are wind and emptiness. Isaiah 42:1 "Behold, My Servant, whom I uphold; My chosen one in whom My soul delights. I have put My Spirit upon Him; He will bring forth justice to the nations. 2 "He will not cry out or raise His voice, Nor make His voice heard in the street. 3 "A bruised reed He will not break, And a dimly burning wick He will not extinguish; He will faithfully bring forth justice. 4 "He will not be disheartened or crushed, Until He has established justice in the earth; And the coastlands will wait expectantly for His law." 5 Thus says God the LORD, Who created the heavens and stretched them out, Who spread out the earth and its offspring, Who gives breath to the people on it, And spirit to those who walk in it, 6 "I am the LORD, I have called you in righteousness, I will also hold you by the hand and watch over you, And I will appoint you as a covenant to the people, As a light to the nations, 7 To open blind eyes, To bring out prisoners from the dungeon, And those who dwell in darkness from the prison. 8 "I am the LORD, that is My name; I will not give My glory to another, Nor My praise to graven images. 9 "Behold, the former things have come to pass, Now I declare new things; Before they spring forth I proclaim them to you."

Isaiah 52:7-10 7 How lovely on the mountains Are the feet of him who brings good news, Who announces peace And brings good news of happiness, Who announces salvation, And says to Zion, "Your God reigns!" 8 Listen! Your watchmen lift up their voices, They shout joyfully together; For they will see with their own eyes When the LORD restores Zion. 9 Break forth, shout joyfully together, You waste places of Jerusalem; For the LORD has comforted His people, He has redeemed Jerusalem. 10 The LORD has bared His holy arm In the sight of all the nations, That all the ends of the earth may see The salvation of our God.

Luke 4:21
He started to speak to them: "Today, as you heard it read, this passage of the Tanakh was fulfilled!"
Acts 13

32 "As for us, we are bringing you the Good News that what God promised to the fathers, 33 he has fulfilled for us the children in raising up Yeshua, as indeed it is written in the second Psalm, 'You are my Son; today I have become your Father.'

I never thought about David's tent was not the same tabernacle of the wilderness.. but it makes sense that the tabernacle in the wilderness as only good so many years before it needs to be replaced being made of fabric.

You said something about both the tent of Moses up at the same time as David's tent was put up. Could you point it out for me in scripture?

1 Chronicles 16:39

John Gill's Exposition said:
1 Chronicles 16:39 And Zadok the priest, and his brethren the priests
These he left, having appointed them

to be before the tabernacle of the Lord, in the high place that was at

Gibeon;
namely, the tabernacle of Moses, which was removed from Nob thither in the days of Saul, and continued there to the times of Solomon, ( 1 Chronicles 21:28 ) ( 1 Kings 3:4 ) ( 8:4 ) .
He didn't replace it with another, he allowed the appointed priests to continue offering according to the law. But he set up and appointed other priests to offer and sacrifice in his tent, with 24/7 worship and praise before the very ark of His presence, where his glory resided.

Nowhere in the Torah was he instructed to do this. He did this as lead by the Spirit of God in him. In fact you could say he was breaking the law because do to this was not instructed in the law.

It was a prophetic image of the Messianic community. NOT bound by the law of Moshe but by the very Spirit that dwells within us, as we worship him 24/7 as priests in his Kingdom. All the while leaving the previously appointed people to observe the law, without the presence of his glory.

David showed how it was going to be in the Kingdom of God when Yeshua would be making offerings and sacrifices 24/7 in the presence of God for us, and how we all will be worshiping Him in Spirit and in Truth, as those previously appointed offer as well, without the presence.

And the whole point is, what Tent is prophesied to be rebuilt? David's or Moshe's? David's, not Moshe's.

Acts 15 said:
12 The whole assembly became silent as they listened to Barnabas and Paul telling about the miraculous signs and wonders God had done among the Gentiles through them. 13 When they finished, James spoke up: "Brothers, listen to me. 14 Simon has described to us how God at first showed his concern by taking from the Gentiles a people for himself.

15 The words of the prophets are in agreement with this, as it is written: 16 " 'After this I will return and rebuild David's fallen tent. Its ruins I will rebuild, and I will restore it, 17 that the remnant of men may seek the Lord, and all the Gentiles who bear my name, says the Lord, who does these things' 18 that have been known for ages.
Who's tent is being restored, and why?

David's, so the remnant of men (Yisrael) may seek the Lord, and all the Gentiles who bear his name.

God is leading them to the rebuilt Tent of David, not the Tent of Moshe.

Awesome insight, Bruh--as it is interesting to consider that nowhere in the Mosaic Law was David commanded to do as he did...and with the temple, it seems to be the same kind of reality, in regards to the desire to build a physical temple/house (which Solomon completed later on) and yet the tabernacle was what was given previously for use. And likewise, for Messianics, the same process could occur as it concerns not being bound to do ONLY what the Mosaic code revealed since it was but one level of God's Mind/Heart--with some things being akin to previews of what was to come later.
