They are nuts and every other liberal will shrug his shoulders and dismiss it. But let a conservative do this and the media will be all over it.

There's an OBVIOUS double standard. Why just look at Joy Behar calling Rumsfeld a "Hitler" type and folks don't say anything. But let Hank Williams mention Hitler in the same conversation as Barack Obama, and the liberal media has a field day.

I actually had to Google Orlando Jones. I had no idea who he is. Susan Sarandon, I don't see what was so awful about what she said. I'll never understand why people get so uptight about someone saying something about the Pope. They did the same thing to Sinead O'Connor back in the day. But, then again, I'm not Catholic, so I don't see anything intrinsically special about the Pope. Sean Penn is a brilliant actor, but makes a douche of himself pretty much every time he opens his mouth and speaks. And Joy Behar, not sure about her. She grates on my nerves anyway. She's obnoxious.

You're too young to remember, but maybe you've seen their movies on TCM (my favorite network). Gregory Peck was a famous actor, you may have seen him as Atticus Finch in "To Kill a Mockingbird", or one of his other fine films. Terrific actor, terrific human being and a Liberal. Charlton Heston, another terrific actor, terrific human being and a Conservative. They both marched against segregation in the South. Not because it was politically correct, but because it was right. I don't seem the same level of compassion in today's Hollywood as the Hollywood of the past. What would happy to a Hollywood actor who made fun of Mohammad? (I'm not Catholic either but used to be one 40+ years ago).

I suspect it's because of how greedy and materialistic celebrities are these days. Sure, you see Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt doing humanitarian work in Africa or building homes for Habitat for Humanity, but how much of it is genuine and how much is for a photo op? It's hard to say.

There's probably a lot of truth to that. A lot of churches have taken on a rather startling(or maybe not) new age, liberal bent.

Well, you could easily blame it on the country western culture too. What's most of that music/culture all about? Cheatin' or looking for a sexual hook up. It's just about purely bar scene oriented. Or as the bible puts it, adultery. You couple that with a nation-wide pop culture that literally encourages promiscuity and you have a lot of what is called "The Bible Belt," living a life anything BUT as the Bible teaches.

And of course, what's the most fascinating, is that the liberals and progressives, the people that "live in sin" (cohabiting instead of marriage) as a statement of belief, claim that "Christians" are just as bad as anyone else. When the reality is, when you embrace a Christian life, your goal is not to do as the pagans do. And of course, the pagans are trying to drag you back into a life of debauchery every single day of your life.

I'd say Angelina is one of the genuine ones. She donates 1/3 of her yearly salary to charity, and she's a Goodwill Ambassador to the UN. I don't think she does it for the publicity.

Other actors though, I'm sure some do it for tax right offs and photo ops.

I've noticed that on the Politics board, the Conservatives will never admit that what a Conservative has done is wrong. They will defend the action every time. I think if one went on a shooting spree and killed 100 people, they would defend it. On the other hand, the more liberal people will not defend a liberal who has done something wrong and have no problem admitting that the act was wrong. I would personally rather have the media not cover it than a whole group of people be in denial and defending whatever wrong action someone does. Now that is a true DOUBLE STANDARD.

They're a bunch of self-important, self-righteous, pampered idiots. I recently saw Matt Damon being interviewed, and when he was asked if he thought that the money people saved from the Bush tax cuts had gone to start any businesses and thus create jobs, he answered no, and that the thought itself was beyond ridiculous. This despite the fact that he himself started a business during the Bush years that was dedicated to getting the movies of first-time filmmakers produced and distributed. I'm honestly sorry to say it, but this guy is a moron from head-to-toe. And needless to say, he's just the tip of the Hollywood iceberg.

They make unimaginable sums of money for their ability to pretend to be something/someone they aren't (e.g. Alec Baldwin in a recent commercial - "Don't worry, I've played a pilot before..."). And they have a whole mini-world of fans who worship them for doing it. Problem with many of them is that they enjoy being worshipped, or worse, they believe they deserve to be worshipped. Then of course they think such worship qualifies them to give their opinions about the real world - a world in which, sadly, most are woefully inept (e.g. Michael Jackson, et. al.).

I don't let pampered, worshipped, overpaid, pretenders speak for me. I've enough struggles of my own.
