So thus far we have Obama trying for some political magic, something all politicians do. And one guy who says Obama should ignore the constitution.
Ya caught me, I want the document shredded and the O man on infinite terms. I don't know how I ever thought I'd hide the truth from you ;D

And just because I legitimately think you won't catch it, that was sarcasm. I suspect you'd hold anything not obviously labelled as such as a legitimate confession.

No, it's Obama using various Executive Orders to bypass Congress, openly stating *on-camera* that he has ordered his advisors to find a way to do what he wants outside of Congress and the Constitution. It's a Democratic Senator calling on Obama to act as a fascist dicator, declare Congress "in rebellion" and govern against the will of the people. It's a democratic governor calling for the suspension of Congressional elections so that their agenda can be passed.

So again, we have the same political games everybody on capitol hill play, and 1 or 2 people calling for Obama to do things he very blatantly should not. Seriously, if that's what you decide your vote with, I may have to make an exception to my belief in the right to vote.

You could make a case for sending American troops there, or any number of places around the globe, for that matter. For some reason, Obama did not do so. All the guy does is give speeches and grant interviews. Why would he never bring this up? Doesnt the president have at least some obligation to inform the public before sending US troops into a new conflict? Is that so much to ask?

We send a hundred people over there, and suddenly it's Vietnam again. Interesting.

Even Vietnam started out with nothing more than a small cadre of advisors. Kennedy seemed to be paying attention to General Westmoreland, who came back from a fact-finding tour and flatly told him, "There is no military solution to the situation in South Vietnam."

Brother Lyndon, however, was worried about his legacy, and decided to escalate, start bombing, and send in combat troops. Well, he got his legacy, didn't he?

This is what happens when you permit a chief executive to do what he wants without the permission of Congress.

The difference here seems to be that the enemy we're helping fight (the Lord's Resistance Army) is quite a bit weaker than the people we fought in Vietnam.

You mean little guys in black pajamas and shoes made out of old rubber tires who fought by digging pits and filling them with sharpened bamboo stakes coated with buffalo dung, and at times used bows and arrows for weapons? Those guys?

Man. You don't get much weaker than that. What are the Lords' Resistance Army fighting with, Ramen noodles?

We also have no real ideological motivation to stay longer than necessary.

We have no damned business being there at all.

If this goes as planned

The most famous of all last words in warfare.

I can see it being a positive for Obama.

There are no positives with Obama.

None at all.

Obama is trying to spread the military too thin. He is destroying this country economically, starting racial and class warfare within, stirring up the muslims through all of his drone attacks in Pakistan, Yemen, his wars in Libya, Afghanistan and Iraq, his atrocious death-care bill, his supplying weapons to Mexican drug cartels, his cronie-capitalism, his backroom shady deals...and on and on....He is a treasonous liar and he was put in place to start this "revolution". He is following the "Rules for Radicals" playbook. His "foot soldiers" are currently in the streets under the heading "occupy" this or that. He's a Marxist, anti-capitalist, anti-American revolutionary who is nothing but a community organizer and that's exactly what he's doing.

I couldn't have said it better myself. Absolutely correct.

And (keeping in mind that Apocalypse Now was just a motion picture), what you just saw represented about $950 million dollars, not adjusted for inflation. The UH-1B's, F-5's, M-16's, M-60's, the training and equipping of the number of people in the clip, transport, logistics, and the amount of ordnance expended----the money we poured into that dunghole was unbelievable.

What we should have done was put Brother Lyndon and Ho Chi Minh into a pigpen and let them duke it out among themselves, with the message to let the rest of us know who won when it was all over and done with.

I'm inclined to be opposed to this if it isn't being carried out under the LRA Disarmament and Northern Uganda Recovery Act of 2009 (which unanimously passed through the House and Senate and was signed by President Obama). The LRA is a dangerous group that has terrorized the region and committed various human rights violations and atrocities under the guise of "following God's orders to liberate Uganda". It seems noble, until you discover they do things like abduct Catholic children and sell them into slavery and murder women and want to execute gay people.

So far as I know, the LRA Disarmament Act gave the president three years to provide aid and security to Uganda in the process of trying to remove LRA leader, Joseph Kony, from power. As I said, sending 100 troops to Uganda could fall under that piece of legislation.

The ones being supported by North Vietnam, China, and the Soviet Union, yes. Who exactly is going to play that role here?

Man. You don't get much weaker than that. What are the Lords' Resistance Army fighting with, Ramen noodles?
A lot of children, actually.

Not arguing that one way or another. Not yet, anyway.

Indeed, which is why I said directly after this "It probably won't go as planned".

There are no positives with Obama.

None at all.
Cool, but also not what I said.

So we are horrible if we help and horrible if we don't. Clinton got into trouble for not coming to their aide. Its all AOK for Bush to send troops for a major war in Iraq that we will never be able back back. How quickly all that mess is forgotten, we are having to live with it now and its repercussions. These people are being slaughtered over there and need our help badly, just as much as the ones in Iraq only Obama isn't starting a huge war over it.
