Can't sing very well but want to be on worship team..

I really think it's important for singers to be singers. Maybe you could learn to play Djimbe or something? But even more important, a worship team member needs to live an exemplary lifestyle, at least having taken care of the more obvious lifestyle issues. It's a ministry, not just a chance to be on a platform with everyone looking at you.

If you are good looking and friendly you may be a good greeter!

I have seen people improve greatly after joining our worship team but some folks are tone deaf and can't follow a melody much less a harmony part now matter how hard they practice. If you are not sure what category you are in, ask a trusted friend or relative who will give you an honest opinion; it may hurt.
Some other thoughts to consider; what's your motivation for wanting to join?

It really isn't as glamorous as it looks up there. Many hard practices, many hard personalities to deal with and it seems like one can come under many attacks, especially on Sunday am before you even leave home.

One thing you may ask to do is be supportive help for the worship team. There are always songs that need copying due to chord changes, music to be pulled and put away, help watch a toddler during practice at church if mom and dad are both on the team, etc, etc. You also get to see how everyone gets along and you may decide it's much better to praise and worship from the congregation side of things

Hi Olivia, I agree with the post below. You would be an awesome greeter or usher. Try it out...seems you have the personality for it! Oh yeah, if your worship is to the Lord, what's wrong with singing in the congregation?

If you are singing with the church then you are on the worship team.

Never feel inhibited to worship...worship loudly...to do so is honoring to God and obedient. You may not be chosen for worship team but if you have that gift in your heart and are under an annointing then you just do it. I've heard of peoples voice ranges changing. The Lord has ministered to me and given me revelation in music and it has just progressed, not sure if I thought I could sing BEFORE...PRAISE GOD!

I love to worship.. but I'm not a good singer either..

But I am a great techie.. so I head up the Visual Ministry.. putting the songs into Song Show Plus.. so that the words are projected on a screen so that the congregation can worship as the Music Ministry leads.
