Funny you ask. Rather then reasonably and chivil protest like was the case with this cross.. Apparently if you do this legally and you are not christian you can count on reactions like the following, damaging the 'offending' property.
Vandals Deface Controversial Billboard in Central Fresno - YouTube

I like how its always such a big persecution deal and people being ''petty' when christians are asked to actually follow the law. Christian priviledge at its finest.:preach:
What?! That's ok though because it wasn't Christian themed, so it's not a big deal.

It makes me sad how the comments section of that video is filled with misspelled hateful messages from Christians acting gleeful over the vandalism, hoping for more and insulting the uploader.

I agree, stuf like that makes it easy to lose sight of the fact most christians are just as chivil as everybody else and don't condone this sort of behaviour. But sadly it's always the bad eggs that get the attention.

I'm sorry but I believe that the civil Christians are the minority, good sir.

You assume what? That I condone defacing a billboard just because it was commissioned by a group of atheists?

I never said it was persecution. I said it was petty, because it is. Going from town to town just nitpicking for things to be offended by and present lawsuits against is petty. What do they actually gain from it? It's like fundamentalists who go and steal sex self-help books from Barnes & Noble and burn them at their church or Muslim parents who want ham sandwiches banned from their kid's school. People who just invent stuff to be offended over are petty. And I didn't realize privately funded religious monuments were against the law. People have a really hard time understanding what "freedom of religion" and "separation of church and state" truly are.

Holy giant brush, Batman! I guess you presume to know that most of us run around with a can of spraypaint and Gospel tracts so that we can vandalize and proselytize at every chance we get. I'd say people, in general, tend to lack proper civility. Case in point, the bullying language the people at the Freedom from Religion Foundation use. By that token may I assume that most atheists have giant sticks up their bums and have nothing better to do with their time than drive around and find stuff to be outraged over?

The only reason anyone cares that a cross is on the water tower is because it's government property. When people percieve that government is favoring one group of people over another, they tend to get upset. Government should be neutral with regard to religion.

Who cares? I mean, really. If people want to spend the money to erect symbols or slogans then they should feel free to knock themselves out. The fact that everyone is so quick to play the "and if it were Muslims?" hypocrisy card, when hypocrisy hasn't even presented itself as of yet, is just silly.

Government should be neutral with regard to religion.

But to what extent? Does anyone remember the story of Irv Sutley? He went around all of the government buildings in Sonoma County and complained about star tree toppers, because he claimed it was "the star of Bethlehem, which is a religious cult symbol". I just cannot imagine being so bitter and bored with life that you have to invent things to be offended over and whinge about them constantly. I don't complain every time I see a moon and star, because "AHHHH ISLAM!"

Some people do. Some are even taking it a step further. Remember all those silly people who think Muslims shouldn't even be allowed to build mosques, like Herman Cain?

I never heard Cain say Muslims shouldn't build mosques, but that's beside the point. People who hate those from other religions for no reason other than lack of understanding just need to deal. Quite frankly, I don't understand why people want to build fences instead of bridges, so to speak. You don't come to an understanding if you remove everything that is ingrained in your religious "culture" from plain sight. Our federal government cannot create, or enforce, a national religion nor can it prohibit the free exercise of religion (or lack thereof). It doesn't mean that people are afforded the right to never see things from other religions. Quite frankly, I don't want to be a religion-free society like France - where everyone must engage in their respective worship practically in secret.

Herman Cain Says U.S. Communities 'Have The Right' To Ban Mosques | Fox News

It's exactly the same thing. For every disgruntled atheist going around suing for inconsequential exhibitions of religious favoritism in government, there are 10 fundies who believe that they should have the right to prohibit Muslims to construct places of worship on private property.

I agree... Herman Cain doesn't. All that I'm saying.

Holy rant, Katman!

Yeah, proving my point, as opposed to what their religion teaches!

If you insist. Bottom line, if you're going to charge that a majority of a religious group is completely incapable of civility you might want to figure out a way to substantiate such a claim. If your assertion was that most of us would deface free-thinker funded billboards or hold a book burning or jump a group of gay people during Pride Weekend (or whatever else it is you guys assume we all do because the scant handful of fools who get all of the media attention do it) then your assertion would be incorrect.

This website substantiates it for me every day. :)
Everyday this website is full of examples for non christians telling christians to care about people other than themselves and to act like the religion they espouse tells them they should.

Then you see what you want to see. From where I'm sitting I'd say that in the general discussion areas you have a disproportionately higher number of either progressive Christians or non-christians to the Christians who just want to spread a message of hate and ignorance. That and the anonymity of the internet seems to bestow everyone with a shiny pair of brass gonads that make them think they can say whatever pops into their head at any given moment.

Well then we shall agree to disagree then, my friend.

While were at it, we should have them put little flag stickers on every product they sell. The Flags would indicate where the item was manufactured. That way I don't have to spend 2-3 minutes reading the fine print on items to find the one brand where thier made in the US.

I was in Target the other day and half the dog treats didn't even list where they were manufactured. I avoid food products made in China and I'm not going to feed it to my pets either. Buying goods made in the US can be a real pain, it would be nice if they made it easier.

I literally shivered at the idea. I think everyone with an ounce of sense and self-preservation would avoid Chinese food products.

As in things made in China, not Chinese food, which is scrumdiddlyumptious.
