On my current read through the Book of Jeremiah, I noticed something odd...

The book is very disordered. It is not in chronological order at all.

Jeremiah gets a word for one king and then he's talking to another king who lived some time before that. The Chronological Bible puts the book in order as shown in the list below.

Some of you may be aware than the Septuagint version of Jeremiah is shorter and has chapters in a yet different order. The Jeremiah scrolls in the Dead Sea Scrolls also evidence another pattern of being jumbled and shorter than what we now have in the Masoretic text.

Do you have any theories as to why this situation came about with Jeremiah?

Chronological Jeremiah:
Jeremiah 1:1-6:30
Jeremiah 47:1-48:47
Jeremiah 22:l-23
Jeremiah 26:l-24
Jeremiah 25:1-38
Jeremiah 36:1-32
Jeremiah 45:1-46:28
Jeremiah 19:1-20:18
Jeremiah 7:1-18:23
Jeremiah 35:1-19
Jeremiah 49:1-33
Jeremiah 22:24-24:10
Jeremiah 29:1-31:40
Jeremiah 49:34-51:58
Jeremiah 52:1-3
Jeremiah 37:1-38:28
Jeremiah 27:1-28:17
Jeremiah 51:59-52:5
Jeremiah 39:1
Jeremiah 34:1-22
Jeremiah 21:1-14
Jeremiah 32:1-33:26
Jeremiah 52:6-11
Jeremiah 39:2-40:6
Jeremiah 52:12-27
Jeremiah 40:7-44:30
Jeremiah 52:28-34

Then so is the book of Revelation in that case :)

NKJV) Jeremiah 4:13 "Behold, He shall come up like clouds and his chariots like a whirlwind.
His horses are swifter than eagles. Woe to us, for we are plundered!"
[Matt 26:64/Revelation 1:7/19:11]

Matt 26:64 Jesus Is saying to him "thou say, moreover I am saying to ye, from present/now ye shall be seeing the Son of the Man sitting out of rights of the power and coming upon the clouds of the heaven".
[Jeremiah 4:13/Daniel 7:13/Reve 1:7/6:16]

Revelation 1:7 Behold! He is coming with the clouds, and shall be seeing Him every eye,

Because Jeremiah is disorderded, Revelation is too???

the black lines indicate where it starts over at the beginning.
Actually, that's not correct. It does not start over, it is a lot more jumbled then that. Its like a bunch of episodes of "Quantum Leap" sewn together.

The chronology in Jeremiah may correspond with events in the spiritual world that surpass the events in this world.

Although Revelation is clearly disorganized, it is clear that the chronology is based on the order in which John saw the vision. There is a possibility that John's vision may be exactly how they will occur in the spiritual world.

It should be noted near the end of Revelation, the chronology seems consistent: Jesus returns and slays His enemies, Satan is imprisoned, then Jesus imposes His will and dominion. After a period of peace, Satan is released to gather those who still oppose Christ and then they are all defeated and then the new heavens and new earth.

So perhaps the initial visions merely depict the spiritual world and the later visions demonstrate events in the physical world.
