Hey everyone!

I graduate from college this spring, and I have always wanted to buy my dad something right after I graduate! Idk why, but it is just something that I feel he would really like. He used to have a 1954 International Pickup R-110 and whenever we see one, he always says, "man what I would do to buy one of those and fix it up with you, the only problem is no place to store it!"

So deep down inside I have been like haha little does he know that when I graduate, I plan on buying him a 1954 International Pickup R-110 that him and I can work on and also rent out some storage for it for 3 years! I am super jacked for this and super ready to surprise him with this!

Anywho the point of this was to see if you guys have any "major" purchases that you are planning on doing after you graduate whether it is something for yourself, or something for a family member!

Cam, first of all long time no see, second of all I'm seriously considering trading in the car I'm getting soon for a late-model car that I really want. Maybe a low-end sports car. :p

The problem is with life is that I just don't have money when I graduate, and then when you finally get a job you're stuck getting things you should've bought earlier (insurance, etc), and then the rat race sets in. Plus I'd have no idea what I would do for fun when I do actually finish.

I have not set plans as of yet. I'm in my final year and cannot know for sure what will happen when I complete my undergraduate degree. Maybe I will advance onto a Masters degree, get a paying job, or maybe I will be stucking with nothing (that thought scares me). But I will trust that God is good.

Nice plans by the way, but will your dad may feel bad for you spending that kind of money on him? Sounds like the project of doing the car up would be very fun and rewarding.

thats such a great idea. I never hear about kids buying something for their families for after grad, its usually the expectation of receiving something from their parents/grandparents. but when you think of all the money and time they've invested in us so we can succeed in school... its a very cool idea :)

I honestly don't have any such plans to buy anything for myself or anyone else. but graduation is still several years off too.

Oh goodness, major purchases. I doubt i'll be going into a field where I can do any sort of major purchases post-graduation, even if I end up completing a PhD until I build up a good portfolio of published, reviewed research papers my job choices are limited to poorly paid, highly competitive contracts/slots where i'll be living off of cheap noodles and council pop for many, many years.

Even if I go the teaching route, I see a future of subbing, noodle eating and small purchases. The big things will have to wait for the beautiful, secure contracts and then, oh then ... I don't even know. A chainsaw. Chainsaws are useful in conservation.

Chainsaws are useful anywhere.

I don't have major plans yet. But, when I am rich, and after paying off college debt, I plan on purchasing everything with singles and then just throwing the money up in the air while yelling "Make it rain!" while gangstah walking out of the building. What can I say? I dream big.

I think my first major purchase after graduation and when I have money coming out my ears would be a second car. I'm sorta fond of the Toyota FJ Cruisers right now. Built my own on the site and it would cost like, $33k :D

I am hoping to work in the conservation sector too, it is a shame that it is so hard to get into and poorly paid.
