We are all given a measure of faith and its real faith. He questioned whether someone has real faith if they stumble, of course they do, and who doesn't stumble sometimes?

I, for one, stumble all the time. Some have even accused me of liking stumbling.

I like when others own their particular theology as their own and just apply it to themselves. I am more incline to believe and be inspired by those statements than by attempts to universalize what thry believe is right.

THIS OUTTA BE A STICKY! (Somewhere?)

We should obtain a level of peace and groundedness in this life due to our faith, of course, but this life will always pose struggles, obstacles, suffering, doubt-that's just honesty. The "peace that passes all understanding" is rarely available in this life except for a special granting, a taste, given according to Gods wisdom. It's so good that it's virtually a taste of heaven.

None of what the norm tells us is right, in the sense that it's adequate, even if it happens to be right on the money as to its basic theology. This is because God is a direct experience after all, and can be even now to a limited degree-but so much more so when we meet Him "face to face" of course. Otherwise knowledge of God remains simply information we receive about Him.

BTW, the Law expresses love because the Law is based on love. This is why Jesus could sum it with the greatest commandments, to love God and neighbor.

Not only is this beautiful, but it's especially so seeing it come from a RC.

I see holiness as abstaining from works of the flesh and walking in the Spirit. Some call this legalism, they say all you need to do is follow the law according to love and not the letter and you fulfill it. And i agree, but is there any good way to fornicate or be covetous idolaters if God says its not holy? This is not bondage, its freedom, i'm just talking about Gods will plain and simple. It has nothing to do with the law and everything to do with Gods will and call to holiness.

For the likes of me, I will never understand why u think Noah had it better than us?

Look>>>>

Heb 12:25See that you do not refuse him who is speaking. For if they did not escape when they refused him who warned them on earth, much less will we escape if we reject him who warns from heaven.
I didn't say he had it better-he actually had a tough mission, in fact- but along with the prophets, those are the ones God speaks most loudly to. And He does speak to more of us now, I'm sure, but I'm speaking of a qualitative difference that's rare-and I think that's more in line with Noah's experience.

Holiness is love-I'm not sure why we shouldn't know that-love is what conforms us to the image of God. And that's why the greatest commandments are what they are. I think we can easily overlook or trivialize the importance of this virtue, which is considered to be a supernatural gift, BTW-and start imagining that holiness is some kind of spiritual quality that has to do with pious looks on people's faces and halos or whatever, but it really is as simple as loving as God does and as He wants; because love's the highest good.

So ya mean this matters?

"be ye reconciled to God." (2 Cor 5:20)

And not this?

Colossians 2:20
"So, then, if with Christ you've put all that pretentious and infantile religion behind you, why do you let yourselves be bullied by it? "Don't touch this! Don't taste that! Don't go near this!" Do you think things that are here today and gone tomorrow are worth that kind of attention? Such things sound impressive if said in a deep enough voice. They even give the illusion of being pious and humble and ascetic. But they're just another way of showing off, making yourselves look important." (MSG)

Yes, we shouldn't be legalistic or hypocritical. Humility is the key to walking closer with God. And???

Paul was referring to a gnostic sect then active in the region of Colossae - they had a different goal and, frankly, a different god.

I think that some people are raised to think that certain religious practices are right, and there's nothing wrong with that as long as they don't conflict with God. We can find self righteous people in any circle, any and all theological backgrounds have self righteous proud people making them all look bad. Humility and obedience to God is what we should strive for, but we shouldn't get hung up on our differences in the process. Anti law can be just as bad as pro law.
