For the most part, yes. Also I'm having my own personal mini-vacation right now for a few days with my wife and five of the kids in KY and my oldest son having started back to school. My nursing classes don't begin until the 16th.

I have no idea what to do with all this free time.

I'll probably get slammed for this but with the bolded I do agree...

There is like 9 conservative/confessionals on here, 2 liberals, and 1 moderate. . . There are a few that are active here but not a vocal about their views too

Conservatives:
Alexbethmom
Jonathan1971
Darev
Studeclunker
Myself
Seajoy
Zecryphon
Aibrean
Resha Caner **New but appears conservative**

Liberals:
Lux et Lex
Mdseverin

Moderates
Doulos Tou Kuriou

By any and all acounts in terms of people who are vocal about their views at least they are out numbered at least 3 to one.

Being outnumbered by that much does naturally tend to make it difficult to express your views. My other concern is that we, check ourselves in how we are treating them too. Its not good for us to play "gang up on the libs" because we think its fun or because we think its going to change their mind. (it won't, my wife majored in psychology and that type of treatment tends to close anyone's mind to other views.) So we should be careful of that too.

You can slam me for that if you want, you may even question my status as a conservative/confessional. But she is correct that this place can be hard on liberals and to a lesser extent moderates.

I just want to say that when you are outnumbered like this, it is very hard to express your views because no one else is backing you up or adding a similar point of view to add on. I am only one man. I initially came to the Lutheran section hoping to find some others that have a similar beliefs. I was caught off guard because the ELCA is the largest Lutheran church in the US.

However, I had every intention of coming here to learn about other ways of thinking. But when anyone questions your beliefs, and when the odds are against you, it does feel like you are always on the defense. It gets to you and when it boils down to it, I was worrying about issues that have nothing to do with salvation, just church practice.

I also have to laugh that I am classified a liberal. I admit the more I think about it my Christian view is liberal. But in secular life I am pretty conservative. I was Chairman of the College Republicans at my university.

Theologically speaking. . . on here you are a liberal.

As to why there are less ELCA people here. . . I find that confessional Lutherans define themselves by that a lot more. And I think it goes with the territory. Confessional Lutherans don't commune with anyone who doesn't agree with them on doctrine... And many won't worship or pray with them. (That wouldn't include me although I won't commune with those who don't agree with me on doctrine.)

The ELCA on the other hand has altar pulpit fellowships with methodists, episcopalians, the UCC, etc etc.

Also confessional Lutheran theology is very well defined. The ELCA is not defined on theology at all.

One of my many problems with the ELCA when I left is, you really could belive in almost anything you want and be a part of the ELCA. There was no set of beliefs that really defined us as a church.

TCL or CF in general operates a lot like professional wrestling. One week you'll have someone agreeing with you and backing you up and the next week you'll be fighting with that person. I don't agree on everything with every single conservative that posts here. I don't even like every conservative that posts here. In a Christian forum, you're gonna need to learn to stand up for what you believe in and be prepared to stand on your own. People don't always have your back here, the way they used to.

A lot of conservatives are gone from this forum now. I don't see as many conservatives posting regularly in TCL or CF as I used to. They've quit for numerous reasons, some for health, some for peace of mind, some have gone to other forums, some have been banned. Some people prefer to stick to the Lutheran sub-forums as much as possible so they don't have to deal with people they disagree with or don't like.

So then what am I supposed to do? I see people run around on this forum that say they believe in Christ alone, Scripture alone, and Faith alone but then go on to state such as this....

"You have your way. I have my way. As for the right way, the correct way, and the only way, it does not exist."

The word of God is nothing, the cross of Christ is nothing, and faith is nothing because the right way, the correct way it doesn't exist.

So you who are torn by your sin despair because there is nothing you can depend on.

The quote, "You have your way. I have my way. As for the right way, the correct way, and the only way, it does not exist." is kind of well known. I only used it because the discussion was going in circles. I could have used the saying "let's agree to disagree." That's all I meant by it. Of course I believe certain truths like Christ died on the cross for our sins. But an atheist isn't going to agree with me on that and that is "the way" they choose. No matter how much I argue with them. That's all I meant by it.

Statements like that bother me because they are so easily refuted by Scripture:

Joh 14:1 "Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me.
Joh 14:2 In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you?
Joh 14:3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.
Joh 14:4 And you know the way to where I am going."
Joh 14:5
Thomas said to him, "Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?"
Joh 14:6 Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

But if you don't believe the Bible is true, this is where you end up. :sigh:

Sorry I should've known to google it especially since it wasn't in quotes. I just took it for granted that it was orginal and not from Nietzsche.

I wasn't mentioned, either (which is likely a good thing, lol).

I'm just a tad disappointed by this thread, even if not so much in disagreement.

I essentially agree that, for the most part, all but a few WELS and very traditional LCMS posters have dropped out of the Lutheran forum - at least actively.
