Was Jesus advocating violence? If not, then what?

The OP: I'd think it's advice to avoid people who seek to exert their will by physical force, and not by justifying their actions (even their use of force) or applying mercy. Lack of self-control or restraint -- physical forcing your own way -- is something to avoid, no matter the cultural environment.

I think its par for the course, the Kingdom suffering it, like suffer the little children type thing

In Ps 140 there are 3 verses with 'violent man'

Ps 140:1 Deliver me, O LORD, from the evil man: preserve me from the violent man...
4 Keep me, O LORD, from the hands of the wicked; preserve me from the violent man;
who have purposed to overthrow my goings...11 Let not an evil speaker be established
in the earth: evil shall hunt the violent man to overthrow him.

the Hebr for violence is חמס pronounced 'khamas' or 'hamas'
I think the violent man has evil in his heart and is cruel.
Some people can appear very ordinary but inside they're
consistently cruel, evil-hearted...like a psychopath.
