If any of the Bible is error, how can any of it be believed? Just think about it. We cannot pick which parts to believe is true.

  • the errors in the translations we have today (how would I have known I needed the original transcripts)?
  • that women are not to wear gold
  • women are not to wear braids in their hair
  • women are not to wear slacks
  • women are not to wear pearls
  • women are not to cut their hair
  • women must not speak in church
  • women must cover their heads when praying

The Bible talks about propriety in dress. If you are beautiful inside and out because of the Holy Spirit dwelling in you, then all the Bible is saying is you don't have a need for outside embellishment/adornments. It does not say you can't do it. If you look at some hairstyles today, you can see some are really spectacular. Some wear so much jewelry that they become targets for muggers. As far as slacks, this has been taking out of context by some denominations. The Bible says men should not dress as women and women should not dress as men. I have always thought that meant I as a female should not wear men's clothing. I wear slacks, but they are slacks for women. I just spoke at my church today and my beautiful hair is my head covering. Some churches are very legalistic, like the Pharisees and Sadducee s . Paul tells us that everything is permissible, but everything is not beneficial.
Read about Priscilla and Aquila . These were Paul's friends, and Priscilla's name is mentioned first. There is nowhere that Paul ever told Priscilla to hush, but instead her called his coworker.

I think it is important that we do not jump to our own conclusions when we read scripture, but allow the Holy Spirit to open up the meaning to us. And we should not allow the traditions and doctrine of men enslave us, because Jesus has given us freedom, for sin, and from condemnation.

Yes or No, do you believe that Scripture is sacred...God breathed?

I believe it is History and scripture that leads us to Christ. Do I believe there are flaws? Yes. Were there flaws in the beginning? I want to say No but I haven't seen any original manuscripts, you?

I am leaning on the Holy Spirit as we speak. I am asking the Holy Spirit why I see errors in my bible and how I answer people (non christians) who ask me, and how I can let it go myself.

What is your answer for all of the numerical errors? What is the Holy Spirit telling you?

I don't need to see the originals to recognize God's word by the power of the Holy Spirit.

2Timothy 3:16 - "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God (for all women in the pulpit sorts) may be thoroughly equipped for every good work."

Now long before Paul ever wrote those words down (having been inspired by God to do so) God Himself spoke to this in Isaiah 55:10-11: "As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it."

God is in control of His word. We can trust that and we can trust Him.
You can pull those verses up from 15-20 different translations and they're all pretty much going to say the same thing.

The Holy Spirit tells me that the Holy Scripture can be trusted. And, if there is any error, it is in the minds of people.

Please get real for just a second.

Go pull any bible you have at home.
Look up these two verses and tell me if you see an error.

How old was Ahaziah when he began to reign? Look up both verses. One says one thing and one says another.

Hi joyusdays,

You're not one to listen to other believers. That's a bad sign. You are argumentative and unwilling to hear. That's a bad sign.

You've been burned a lot by christians and it would appear that believing God isn't really what you are after. I researchd a few of your errors and you'd do well to do the same. You asked how a believer is supposed to know how to check out these things, well, by fellowshiping and discussing these issues with other believers. However, your attitude seems to be. Look!!! I found some errors, I don't care what anyone tells me to resolve these errors. They are there and so I'm proclaiming that God's word, as we hold today, is in error. That's a bad sign.

God bless you.
In Christ, Ted

I agree God is flawless and in control of His word...but man over the years had made the bible to have flaws and God must have allowed it. Does it mean it can't lead us to Christ, no, I don't believe that. I think it's clear we must believe to be saved. But do I think the bible is equal to God? No. Is the Holy Spirit equal to God? Yes, is Jesus equal to God? I believe so. Is the bible with flaw equal to God? No, I don't believe so. We are not saved by a book, we are saved by believing in Jesus Christ as our saviour. The bible doesn't say you have 4 things to believe in, the bible should always lead us to Christ.

Ted, I do not want to follow man blindly. I feel your judgement even though you do not know my heart. I am afraid of being mislead. I want God to lead me. Is that a bad sign? I am asking the Holy Spirit to tell me the truth. Is that a bad sign?

Ted, let me ask you something. Do you believe in the 5 points of Calvinism?

I'm sorry Sister, you do not agree or you would be able to trust that nothing man does to God's word will override what He intends it to do.
There is most certainly nothing I could possibly say that would be better than or more convincing than what God has already said.

Thank you for your comments. I agree with you (hear that Ted):)??
I do believe nothing can overide God, and since there are errors in the bible that obviously God did not stop...did He do this so that we would lean more on His spirit? This is the question I am asking Him to speak to me on.

It's one thing to ask God questions privately.
It's quite another thing to question God before man.

Those who are connected to the Lord - his children.. My Father knows.. This is written and you dont have to read to be connected.. Its in you from birth.. Those of God do return or at least is given an opportunity to return to Our Father.. Babies automatically return to God when they pass and thats because they belong to God and they were not trained by world so there is no struggle for them. Their minds dont sway back and forth They really know God.

All The Glory Belongs To God Forever!

I am a little late in responding but something is wrong and I am not getting emails regarding responses to post.

"It's in you from birth" ???? What is in you from birth? Everyone is born in sin because of the offense of Adam. Doesn't say anything about "learning to sin".

No offense but there is nothing stated in the word of God regarding anything else stated above so it is all assumption - and your own personal beliefs.

I agree...the bible doesn't say we are born sinless. We are born to go to Hell, but it's our Father who saves us. Right?

I agree...the bible doesn't say we are born sinless. We are born to go to Hell, but it's our Father who saves us. Right?

Are we saved from a Hell fire pit or eternal death?

1Co 15:22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.
1Co 15:23 But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming.
1Co 15:24 Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power.
1Co 15:25 For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet.
1Co 15:26 The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.

I know these versus don't explain directly what I posted but the first verse states "all will be made alive", and the last, "the last enemy that shall be destroyed is death".

The Lord Jesus, not Satan, carries the keys of Hell.

Rev 1:18 I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.

The expression "save souls from Hell" does not appear in any of Paul’s writings. In fact, the term "Hell" is not used in any of Paul’s writings.

How many times are the expressions "save souls from Hell" and "save souls" used in Christian preaching, and yet such terminology is not found in the Epistles?

"The soul that sinneth shall die," not the soul that sinneth shall go to Hell.

The "wages of sin is death," not the wages of sin is Hell.

I believe the Bible is equal to God. It says in John 1:1, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." But read on farther in verse 14. "And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth." Who is the Word? That is God. The Bible contains His thoughts, His Ways, His Truths, and His Decisions.

Also if you read later in the New Testament, not sure where it is yet, but it says that Heaven and Earth shall pass away, but my words shall never pass away. And it also says that all scripture has been given by the inspiration of God. I believe the scriptures and God is so much in union, they cannot be separated.

Even though I cannot find any contradictions, I can find mistakes. The first one is where man rejected God back in the garden. But I did not find any mistakes about it on God's part. He knew what the Bible is going to be. And He said that His words shall never pass away and that His words shall live on. And we have the documentation of 2,000+ year words from Jesus, and Peter, and Paul, but all of it was inspired and directed by the Lord.

I am a little familiar with the Anabaptist doctrine and while I'm not encouraging debate because we do have a ND SoF, I support fellowship within the Body's groups of believers and must, therefore, state "Amen, Brother in Christ" to your post here!

When I looked at your post, I was going like "What are you talking about?" Then I remembered that my thing says "Anabaptist." I am actually non-denominational, and a very conservative Christian, the reason I put Anabaptist is that I learn little towards the Anabaptist faith while having no denomination. So sometimes, I go between the two. lol
