Sounds like the Mexican government (and the U.N.) want Mexican citizens to be free to come into the United States and rape and murder, and then use legal technicalities to get them off on all charges.

I don't think that observation is far off from reality, Panzer.

In the old days, when the government laid down on the job, we used to have citizen's comittees that handled this sort of thing----they were called vigilantes.

The hot-headed Texans should have given him his consular access and then executed him.

I do not understand why this was not done.

Hubris? Perhaps. Texans are known for their hubris.

However, I am an honorary Texan... Just as a note to you guys.

Great, now you've opened a can of worms and we have to read stupid anti-Mexico comments.

Do you realize how many Mexican police and soldiers have died and continue to die fighting the cartels?

Probably about as many who work for the cartels.

Once again, treaties are the supreme law of the land, equal to the Constitution. A state cannot violate the Constitution, and it cannot violate the terms of a treaty.

And since this wasn't a federal case, it didn't.

Um... Because he had over fifteen years to make that request, and he waited until just prior to his execution? Because he never told anyone he was an illegal here until after his trial?

Hey- Don't let these points from the article stop your assumption regarding hubris, though.

Of course it is. It's total poop. If you believe that kind of garbage, then you need to drastically change the kind of stuff you're putting in your head.

You know that saying about people being proven by their action or inaction?

Ye-aaaah. I'll change what's in my head the moment they stop giving me reason to believe it. Fair enough?

Gee I love US arrogance/

That's okay- We love British arrogance! ;)

Yeah, we actually prosecute murdering rapists. Go figure

Shhhh! That's supposed to be a secret! We don't want the word getting out that justice might still be alive!!

Are you suggesting that only cops that work for the cartels are killed by the cartels?

How did you get that from what I said?

I said the amount of corrupt cops in Mexico is probably about equal or greater than the amount of cops killed by the cartels.
