Any Harry Potter fans on here? I love the series and don't think that it is evil. There are actually a lot of Christian themes and messages and J.K. Rowling herself is a Christian.

Anywho, fans of Harry gather and let's hopefully have some fun chats.

Hi, I am a Harry Potter fan. I'm about 10 years late in reading the series. I love all that I have read so far. I'm on year 5 Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix. I won't read the new ones till I'm finished with this series and I haven't seen any of the movies yet but I plan too.

Definitely a good series, what I enjoyed most was how J.K. got better with each book, the characters becoming more and more complex and fleshed out.

Definitly good observations about a great series. The series was always intended to grow with the audience so it makes sense the books would get deeper and more mature.

I read a lot of young adult literature since I majored in English Education. I really enjoyed the Harry Potter series, both the books and the movies, and allowed my 11 year old daughter to read them all. I was a little uncomfortable because my parents were very strict Christians: we couldn't go to movies, we didn't read many fairy tales because of spells, witches, and fairies, and even "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe" was off-limits. So for me to allow my own child to read a book with witches and wizards as the heroes was really strange for me. But after she finished the first book, she said, "Mom, it's not really about witchcraft. It's about bravery and friendship."

She's now almost 13 years old and she and I plan on going to the movie theater together to see the last movie! (She watched all but the most recent one on DVD at home.) We're looking forward to it.

Hooray for young fans! I'm happy that you and your daughter could enjoy this really imaginative series together (here I am talking like I wrote it lol). I think it is perfectly safe for Christians; J.K. Rowling herself is one. The books don't teach Satanic witchcraft for anything; they're about love, bravery, and friendship. God bless good ole' J.K.

I'll admit while I've enjoyed sharing Harry Potter with her, I'm not anxious for her to read "Twilight." I've read the series and while I can see why teen girls love it, I don't think it's healthy or wholesome, Mormon author or not.

Back to the topic, though, I love how villainy comes in many guises in Harry Potter. There is the obviously evil like Voldemort and there is the smarmy, "sweet" yet cruel Dolores Umbridge. Her type of evil is so insidious!

True! I enjoyed both the movies and the books, and I did think the movies depicted things very well, but the certainly could not go into the detail the books did nor could they include all the intricacies of the plot.

I'm often disappointed by movie renditions of favorite books, but I liked the Harry Potter movies. It probably helped that I went into them KNOWING they wouldn't be able to include EVERYTHING.

I'm a huge fan of the books and there are many themes in this series that I believe God would be proud of and Jesus himself has preached about. I'm so excited for July, though, I'm not nearly as big of a fan of the movies as I am the books, but I've never watched a movie based on a book that was better than the book. Still love them, though!

I have read all the Harry Potter books and am looking forward to the last movie.

The best way to read Twilight:

1. Take a copy of the book and crawl into bed.

2. Turn out all the lights.

3. Toss the book on the floor and go to sleep.

4. Wake up the next morning and realize you haven't missed anything.

I saw the movie last night at midnight, when it was released. It's funny how the most excited and dressed up people were those who couldn't even read when the books came out. They've been 'grandfathered in' so to speak. The true/biggest fans are people my age and older who have followed the books and movies since they began; not those who came in at the end

My wife Lisa Grace has a young adult fiction that you all would easily like. Angel in the Shadows Book 1 and Angel in the Storm Book 2 . They are fast paced an are nondenominational. The first is a hardback and they are both Amazon e-books in the top 12. Give them a try I think youll be hooked.
