Permissible and silly.

A lot of tattoos are rather ridiculous and I imagine the person regrets it if not soon after then eventually.

But sometimes ink can be meaningful, for personal and/or religious reasons.

The only time I've seen tattoos endorsed is in times of persecution. I believe that the Copts in Egypt still tattoo their children with a Coptic cross lest they be kidnapped and forced to be Muslim.

I personally don't particularly care for them.

I had never heard that, it's kind of cool. I think tattoos are ok. I think it is more of mind set and how you represent Christ. If you feel that you can still show Gods love with tattoos then go for it.

Tattoos are originally an anthropological and often also a religious thing.

The whole modern inking seems to be purely out of some sort of social rebellion, anti-social behavior, or ego (not necessarily all of the above).

I respect tattoos on those people who actually follow their culture's traditions. They are being true to what tattooing is truly about. As for modern Western culture's fascination with them, I think it utterly vain and, honestly, insulting.

Is it sinful though? Depends on the intent and what is actually being tattooed.

Needless to say, with the exception given above, I find the whole phenomenon, at least as practiced by the West, just egotistical.

So mostly for attention? Just looking for clarification.

God does not like them, you can get diseases from them and the can invite demonic activity into your life just like practicing witchcraft. So I think they are wrong.
Erm...what?

Tattoos, in general, are fine. So long as they do not honor a false deity, depict something sinful, etc.

But a little heart that says mom? Not so much.

I have seen cross tattoos being blessed by clergy. As long as it weren't disfigured.

Something along these lines... it wasn't quite this large.

Forgive me...
