I'm not sure what the situation is greece is like, but if allowed, you could try to get others interested and call a Lutheran body with interest to have a mission church started.
I mean, ultimately we are Lutheran by theology not membership, you can still believe in justification by faith alone, theology of the cross, and the proper distinction between law and gospel from where you are, but it will be an isolated and tempting situation which will leave you with no church you can fully and in good conscience participate in completely.

He's also 16 so moving might not be so easy.

Well, you would think there would be at least one Lutheran church of some description in the whole country of Greece. My Google Fu was insufficient to find one, though.

Looks like the closest ones are in Romania.

In the US we have a good number of options in regards to religion. Almost any one of us could find at least one of the following denominations with 50 miles of us. Methodist, Baptist, Lutheran, Roman Catholic, Preysbyterian, Episcopal/Anglican, UCC, Pentacostle. A lot of us could probably find many others including E. Orthodox. and Anabaptist

Because of state churchs and the general apostasy of the European Continent, European Christians are not so lucky.

I mean a german speaking church :D

Do the members of that church speak German at all times or is it only the services that are in German and the members are fluent Greek speakers? I ask this because I was brought up in a church were the services were conducted in Latin while all the members spoke English. One eventually gets used to it.

I understand what you are saying. Before I became Lutheran, I was looking into the Orthodox church. The only one in my area does its services in Greek. That was definitely a concern for me. I think, though, if I were convinced that their doctrine and beliefs were correct, I could have overcome that.

I will be praying for you.

Yes a native, but what is unusual is the fact that I'm still here. I would venture to say that the vast majority of Buffalo area natives presently reside elsewhere. We are the new Ireland, exporters of our native population. .

I realy want to join a lutheran church but there aren't any here in greece...What shoud i do
WHat an unusual situation. That's almost like being a Christina in a Muslim country. Although probably less dangerous. The question I would like to ask is how you came about the realization that you wanted to be Lutheran? At 16 I would think that someone had been influentual in pointing you in that direction. If you have come upon the decision on your own then I would think that you could sustain the direction of your belief and continue in your quest for where the Holy Spirit is leading you.

Well i was intrested in christian theology... ( my dream is to study theology too). I have read books about the theology of my church(Eastern Orthodox), the theology of catholics, the theology of Calivin... But the only christian theology that attracted me was the Lutheran one... I mean it was based in the Scriptures and not in the fantasy of man. That's right... i have come upon this decision myself... Or better , the scripture guided me to find the truth.

I don't know about that...a Greek yiayia can be as formidable force as any Muslim if she finds out her grandson has been flirting with the Lutheran Church. :p

Seriously Fotis...I have the perfect book for you to read so you can see Orthodoxy compared to Lutheranism side by side and get a good picture of both--where they are compatible and where they are not. In the late 1500's the Tuebingen Lutherans sent their theology to the Patriarch in Constantinople and through as series of mail exchanges, 3 on each side, you can see what each believes compared to the other. This was at the time the Book of Concord was being finalized so the Lutheran presentation is definitely representative of confessional Lutheranism. You might even be able to find the compilation in Greek.

Don't let a Lutheran tell you about Orthodoxy and don't let an Orthodox tell you about Lutheranism. Read both for yourself from the sources. But don't tell your yiayia or you will be in big trouble! ;)
