Don't believe the hard left's narrative about a weak GOP 2012 field. It is total nonsense. All of the candidates have more experience than Obama did. We have former governors like Pawlenty and Romney. We have a former Senator in Rick Santorum. We have a black business man in Herman Cain. We have a woman and House Rep in Michelle Bachmann. This will be a fresh, healthy debate and we may have more entires like Palin, Perry and/or Christie. This is a great field! All of these men and women can do so much more than read a teleprompter.

If the GOP had the media spreading as many lies and as much demagoguing of the issues as the Dems, we would already have November 2012 in the bag............
There is no "if" there, but the conclusion is flawed.

It does not require a majority to prevail, but rather an irate, tireless minority keen to set brush fires in people's minds.....

...what does that even mean? Seriously. :sorry:
tulc(thinks it sounds pretty annoying having to put out random fires all over the place)

As did Senator McCain.
Boy didn't the republicans throw him to the wayside, and he was their guy!

I expect that the person the republicans choose will still fall short of their expectations. That will prove that their field is a weak field.

Go ahead and convince yourself that you have a strong field. The rest of us in the reality based community know that the GOP field is terribly weak. Not to mention that any candidate that would have a shot in the general election, won't make it out of the primaries as the GOP is being hijacked by far right wing radicals.

And that's the GOP's problem -- anyone screwy enough to survive the Primaries will get too screwy for the actual election.

Unless Obama strangles a kitten on live television, he'll beat them (and even then he'll probably still get ~40% of the popular vote!)

"...what does that even mean? Seriously."

It means the First Amendment gives everybody their chance to not know what they are talking about...:)

So...are we working on our Zen political koans today?
I always liked this one:
Nan-in, a Japanese master during the Meiji era (1868-1912), received a university professor who came to inquire about Zen.
Nan-in served tea. He poured his visitor's cup full, and then kept on pouring.
The professor watched the overflow until he no longer could restrain himself. "It is overfull. No more will go in!"
"Like this cup," Nan-in said, "you are full of your own opinions and speculations. How can I show you Zen unless you first empty your cup?"
tulc(always enjoys a good koan) ;)

Plus the 3rd and 4th party candidates will draw off the fringe right vote that got him or her nominated in the first place.^_^

Romney's drawn fire for endorsing Romneycare, Pawlenty's a milquetoast, Santorum's views makes him a political liability, Christie and Perry have already announced they're not running, and Palin...

.... seriously, Palin? Have you people learned nothing since 2008? She certainly hasn't.
