Where does Micah make such a prophecy?

Christians use Micah 5:2 as birthplace prophecy,
Mic 5:2 But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.

But that's not what it means. The going-forth of the Messiah is from ancient times, from Bethlehem. The Messiah is descended from David, and David was from Bethlehem. Therefore, the Messiah has his roots and ancestry tied forever to Bethlehem, which would have been very insignificant otherwise.

I know, but you asked. I've come to the conclusion that a large part of what Christian commentators claim is prophecy of Messiah really isn't. But this is one that they use.

Ah. Gotcha.

Did you hear about Joplin's tornado? That's my hometown. All of my inner circle are now accounted for except for

Stephen Fisher (a close friend from my synagogue)
Cathy Shipp (a cousin of mine)
Shawn Shipp (her son)

Please keep them in your prayers. May they be found alive and healing from this tragedy.

Thanks!

Yonah

Camping is now claiming he was off by five months and his new "rapture date" is October 21

If not before then, then after - guaranteed it will not be on October 21

Strangely, they haven't updated their website since May 19. Not even a peep about the fact that "we were wrong."

Judgment Day off by 5 months, rapture still coming says preacher

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) -- California preacher Harold Camping said Monday his prophecy that the world would end was off by five months because Judgment Day actually will come on Oct. 21.
Camping, who predicted that 200 million Christians would be taken to heaven Saturday before the Earth was destroyed, said he felt so terrible when his doomsday prediction did not come true that he left home and took refuge in a motel with his wife. His independent ministry, Family Radio International, spent millions -- some of it from donations made by followers -- on more than 5,000 billboards and 20 RVs plastered with the Judgment Day message.
But Camping said that he's now realized the apocalypse will come five months after May 21, the original date he predicted. He had earlier said Oct. 21 was when the globe would be consumed by a fireball.

Yahwah the Holy Spirit created a body for Peniel, the messenger of Yahwah, in Mary's womb. And he was given the birth name Yahshua. He was born in Bethlehem, was taken to Egypt, and returned to grow up in Nazareth. The rabbi's ruling of who is a Jew did not come until after the birth of Yahshua. Yahshua is a son of David not only by decree of God, but God created his body in the linage of David. See:

Matthew 1:20
But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.

Matthew 9:27
[ Jesus Heals the Blind and the Mute ] As Jesus went on from there, two blind men followed him, calling out, “Have mercy on us, Son of David!”

Matthew 12:23
All the people were astonished and said, “Could this be the Son of David?”

Matthew 15:22
A Canaanite woman from that vicinity came to him, crying out, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on me! My daughter is demon-possessed and suffering terribly.”

Matthew 20:30
Two blind men were sitting by the roadside, and when they heard that Jesus was going by, they shouted, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!”

Matthew 20:31
The crowd rebuked them and told them to be quiet, but they shouted all the louder, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!”

Matthew 21:9
The crowds that went ahead of him and those that followed shouted, “Hosanna to the Son of David!” “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!” “Hosanna in the highest heaven!”

Matthew 21:15
But when the chief priests and the teachers of the law saw the wonderful things he did and the children shouting in the temple courts, “Hosanna to the Son of David,” they were indignant.

Matthew 22:42
“What do you think about the Messiah? Whose son is he?” “The son of David,” they replied.

Mark 10:47
When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”

Mark 10:48
Many rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”

Mark 12:35
[ Whose Son Is the Messiah? ] While Jesus was teaching in the temple courts, he asked, “Why do the teachers of the law say that the Messiah is the son of David?

Luke 18:38
He called out, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”

Luke 18:39
Those who led the way rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”

Luke 20:41
[ Whose Son Is the Messiah? ] Then Jesus (Yahshua) said to them, “Why is it said that the Messiah is the son of David?

Harold Camping's ministry is worth 80 million dollars. You may think he would have spent it all on the poor and destitute, but no, he did not. Another wolf in sheep's clothing. How come these preachers who constantly announce the end of the world also keep asking people for money? What is money good for if the world's about to end? And now he needs more money to get the word out that the end will come in October.

So sorry to hear this Yonah! My aunt is there with her husband. They lost their house and are picking up the pieces. It could be *much worse*, but thankfully they have each other. I'm rather worried about them though. :prayer:

I did receive some news about Stephen today. The Rabbi in Tulsa was able to verify that he registered with the Red Cross. That means that he's at least alive. I don't know anything more, but hopefully we'll be hearing from him soon.

Sorry to hear about your relatives, too. It's weird that Joplin has finally received attention from the world - I always thought it was a great place - but this isn't the kind of attention it needed. We even had it in the news in Hebrew here in Israel. Who'd have thought that Joplin, Missouri, of all places, would ever end up in Yedi'ot Achronot throughout Israel? Strange....
